Two interesting pics from 12/2-12/3 hunting trip

I mentioned that I was invited to go on a hunting trip with several other vets in Crowell, Texas, (Population 900+) a few weeks ago. So, I arrived on a Friday Afternoon (12/2) and we were suppose to meet at the town's bank. This is the only bank in the town and what do I see for the first time?

I had to take a second look at the sign. No, I didn't go in the bank. I called the event sponsor and met him at the cabin. Couldn't believe it...This is a town known for hunting after all.

Later that day, I shot my first deer with a borrowed 25 WSSM rifle (approx 150 yds). My guide approved the shot and after we walked up to the deer, he said the antlers were a lot bigger through his binos! Really! Anyway, I got to clean my first deer and take some of the meat home. It is still in the freezer as of now. Anyone want to come over for some bar-b-q?

Or is that only a tradition in Africa?
Nope, we do that in Texas too, at least my clan does. So...did ya?!?

Good thing Article 4413 (29ee) was repealed and that isn't what I'm licensed under, or else I couldn't go in that bank either..because the sign says people licensed under that aren't supposed to ... My bank has a simple no Beretta 92s/Taurus PT92s allowed picture sign which is peeling off the window from old age, so I leave the Taurus in the car or at home and carry the Glock26 or XD45 to the bank.

We had to take a bite of the heart for the first deer with a bow. Something about having the spirit of the deer combine with yours.

There's a technical term for that. It's called "ground shrinkage". The closer the horns get to the ground, the more they shrink!

The one Police man was called to the local pharmacy after a "F" bomb slipped out of my mouth. Almost recieved a citation for disorderly conduct(I think thats what he said).

That particular officer was a real stickler. Once he figured out what vehicles we drove it was almost a everytime we were there we got pulled over type of deal.

Wow, on the sign! I have a lease in Paducah, drive through Crowell on every trip, twice!

I guess I'll keep away from the bank...

Please forgive my not using the 100% flame-proof language here, but no, that's not the currently "enforceable" signage that would prevent CHL carry. I usually look for the "subchapter H" clause to clue me in to the current signage that gives "official" notice that CHL carry is forbidden.
