I got my 'Renewal Notification"

Very nice piece of mail was in my Mailbox yesterday. My CHL expires in December of this year and I got a notice to renew (in June)! Pretty cool. I had been wondering about when I should start the process.
There were instructions on how to visit the website to renew and what to expect. I logged in and had my application complete in 15 minutes. (Yup, I'm slow cause it was quick and easy)
There was a section which outlined what I needed to send in, but the paragraph stated they already had the pix and fingerprints so I didn't need to do anything additionally, unless of course what was on file was not satisfactory and then they would send me a letter telling me what to do.
Super nice service and even had a place to donate to a Veterans Service fund, which I did but it wasn't required.
They also said not to check for 3 weeks on the status and to expect my license in 40 days. Waaaay before December, and plenty of extra time if needed.
What a great service. They got it streamlined now. When I got my first CHL it was a confusing mess lol.
Good Job DPS!! :woohoo

Yup, I got the same letter. We all did. 6 months prior to expiration they send out that letter. I had stuff going on & I put my letter in my 'come back and review latter' box, & I did.....9 months later!!  Thankfully, there's a 1 year grace period, so I applied that night I 'discovered' my renewal letter. 27 days later I received my new CHL. Thank goodness they didn't need new fingerprints or photo. :thumbs2:

Just FYI, it took almost 60 days from the date of filing to receive my renewal last year.
My wife, who submitted her first time application about the same time received her license in only 30 days.
I thought it was a good thing they were prioritizing new licenses over my renewal that still had 6 months validity remaining.

My understanding is that applications have gone up since then so don't be surprised if your renewal takes longer than 60 days.

Overall the renewal process could not have been any simpler, I think.

Oh, sweet! Mine expires in April next year. I was wondering when to start the renewal process. I will sit back and watch for the letter then. If they send them out 6 month in advance, I should see mine sometime in October then.

You don't have to wait for the notice letter. I sent mine in exactly 6 months before expiration and got the renewal notice about a week later.

I just renewed mine in May/June after getting the renewal notice.

Had the new LTC in ~30 days.
