We normally shop at Kroger for most of our food items but Minyard's is just up the street for quick one or two items needed. I noticed a couple of weeks ago they had 8.5x11 sheets of pink paper taped to the door that said no guns with a gun buster emblem.
Yesterday I had to go up and get a couple of potatoes for dinner and they had full size .06 & .07 compliant signs. I couldn't resist, so I disarmed, went inside and asked for the manager. When he came to the counter, I handed him one of the cards I got from TSRA stating why I would no longer shop there, turned around and started to walk out. He asked me why this was so important to me and I began to ask him if he believed in the constitution, if he had heard that we as LTC holders are 95% less likely to cause a crime with a gun that the average citizen. I also explained that I had been coming in for many years carrying concealed. I told him that I didn't have an issue with the .07 sign as it really didn't affect me much but the .06 sign took away my basic right to protect myself. His comment was that they just wanted to make the store safe for all of it's customers and I said how does advertising that no one with a gun will be inside to the criminals make it safer. I then said thanks, but no thanks, I will go elsewhere for my needs.

This feeling is probably pretty common, though so misguided as to be incomprehensible.

Yes, that's pretty much the standard response from all these anti-gun establishments when they're confronted about the decision. I assume they get it from some MDA or MDA-type literature. It's deliberately designed to be a show stopper in that even if the manager were open to persuasion, it would take so long to explain why it's a nonsense that you pretty much just sigh and walk away.

I once started to have this discussion with a Whole Foods muckety-muck who I know socially, and quickly realized it would go absolutely nowhere so I dropped it out of respect for the host of the party we were attending. This is one reason I keep saying it's time we rethought 30.06 and whether businesses should even be allowed to exclude licensed concealed carry, or at least change the rules to where they actually have to ask you to leave before it elevates to criminal trespass, but that's a different discussion.

How do you get those cards and what do they look like?

I picked mine up at the TSRA booth at the annual meeting. I know you used to be able to get them from their online store but I just checked and they appear to be reworking their website and the store says coming soon.

One on Story and Shady Grove. I sure hope it is not that one. I don't go often, but do sometimes.

It's noted on Texas3006.com since 1/11/16. Guess you need to check the site and save yourself a trip.

I work at the concrete pipe plant around the corner on Macarthur. We go there for our monthly inventory groceries. Will have to let them know they will loose us as well.
