30.06 Removed!!
In my little town of Springtown there were signs erected at both Chevron stations. By the looks of it the owner purchased a "SET" of signs (one .06 & one .07) and one was place at each store. I kindly asked the manager of the .07 store to talk to me and explained the difference in the signs and told him I had no problem doing business with him. I also explained the number of LTC carriers in our community that may or may not cease to do business with the other store sue to the .06 sign. He verified with me that the .07 sign was OK with the licensed folks and asked me to go talk with the other store manager. I did this.
After speaking with the other manager it was clear that he didn't have a clue either. I nicely told him that I didn't feel safe coming into a public facility that would not allow me to carry my weapon concealed. His words were "You mean my sign says that NOBODY can carry a gun?". I told him that the .06 sign said that nobody who has been approved by the state of texas can legally carry a gun here but the BAD GUYS CAN if they want to. He said that he had some guys sporting OC after the first of the year and some customers said something about it. I told him that most guys with a LTC do not mind the .07 signs and we understood.
We shook hands and I walked to my truck. When I got into my truck I noticed him removing the .06 sign. I placed my weapon back on my person (concealed) and went back into his store and made a purchase. I thanked him and again told him that we did not mind the .07 sign and understood.
Lots of store owners out there just need an explaination. I told this guy not to believe me but to look it up an he would see that I was telling him the truth. I know my town is small but even here the store owners need a little education.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it to those two gentlemen!

Bravo!
I have found that many, many business owners do not have a clue what the signs really mean. I am amazed at how little people know if they have not gone through CHL/LTC class. There is also a lot of folks out there who think that the old rules from the 90's still apply, like using a revolver in class only licenses you to carry a revolver. They don't even know what the new OC laws say.

great to hear!
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Anti-gun groups are using fear to get businesses to put these signs up.
Good job on using logic and common sense on the manager. It sounds like a lot of these places just don't know what the signs mean.

Great. I think I kept at least an .06 from going up. A hardware business owner was telling me his partner was going to install both .06 and .07. He thought both signs had to be posted and that his partner didn't like guns. I told hm he was going to lose business if he posts the sign because a lot of LTC customers would go somewhere else. He got on his phone to text his partner not to put up the sign

I think that there is a pair of organizations that are either spreading misinformation or capitalizing on ignorance to get both signs put up.

Good job. When we lived in Azle I would always stop in Springtown either going to or coming from the range. Really surprising that a 30.06 would ever go up in this town, but as others have said most folks just don't know any better.

Job well done !! Courteous, professional & informative.
Re: 30.06 Removed!!
I suspect some of the misinformation is coming from sign companies that saw a boon to their business.
Why sell one sign when you can sell two?
Make it a package deal: "You need both signs to keep guns out of your shop, ma'am. State law. $50 for one or $85 for the set." Signs get hung, done deal.
It's up to us to educate them after the fact, as did the OP.
