Texans are talking about Open Carry. Many Texas law enforcement agencies have sponsored open discussions. Here is another:

Interesting that on their video channel about every 4th video is of seeking info on a fatal shooting or robbery. The real numbers must be staggering if there are that many caught on tape. Wow- what an eye opener.

Should be interesting to see where it goes but not expecting positive things. One of the first things that he says in the announcement video ( is to describe how you may be in your favorite store and see someone open carrying...and then makes a point of saying that "they might not be carrying illegally." I think that speaks volumes. He didn't say that they may well be carrying legally, but instead went to the negative side of things that to says that the HPD mindset is to be that presume that they're illegally carrying until proven otherwise.

When I first saw this on the HPD facebook page, I got the feeling that it was more of a bad thing than good :waiting:

Well, I was robbed at gunpoint a few weeks ago and I feel that if I were open carrying, the bad guys may have thought twice.

I will be in attendance at the meeting, anyone else?

The open carry law is very complex? I thought it was easy enough that an eighth grader could understand it. What makes it complex?

Yupper, given his views on local governments having the ability to ban concealed weapons on public property it's pretty clear that if you are carrying in Houston, it's going to feel even more like the new Austin.

Thats the announcement video from earlier in the thread, I already saw that. I'm talking about the actual Meeting -which I assume/hope might shed some light on how HPD is planning on handling open carry situations. Like i said, some impressions from anyone who actually attends on how they think HPD is presenting the information to public or how they perceive they might handle it based on their talking points/rhetoric.
