LTC licenses now being issued
A friend proudly showed me his new license today. I was surprised to see "License to Carry" instead of Concealed Handgun License. I knew this was coming but thought it would be closer to January. My wife got her renewal license a few weeks ago and it still said CHL.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Its really not a big deal but I hope mine does not change. I like chl, it sounds so much cooler.

LTC is for your gun. It needs it since it would defend your life.

Is the new license to carry only issued to new applications or when your CHL is renewed? In other words, those of us who have a current CHL will not automatically receive the new license until we renew....Correct?

Correct. Unless you want to fill out their form and give them $25 for one that says License to Carry.Sherlock7 wrote:Question: In other words, those of us who have a current CHL will not automatically receive the new license until we renew....Correct?

They got 3 more months to get educated, trained and understand, that OC is no crime in Texas.Oldgringo wrote:So, do the local and state Gendarmes know that both licenses are legal....or not?

I really don't understand why people with Chl's want to open carry? The only thing it tends to prove is that there really are gun nuts out there and the law abiding citizens such as myself seems to get thrown in with the rest!
Please tell me who REALLY needs to know you have a firearm? ?
Would you people PLEASE tone it down! !!!
Walking around with an open firearm does not look cute nor will it PROTECT any better than concealed.
Law enforcement, Military, and Armed officers are the only people who need to have open firearms.
OPEN CARRY WILL NEVER MAKE YOU OR ANYONE AROUND YOU FEEL MORE SAFE OR SECURE! .... AND that's a fact.
Re: LTC licenses now being issued
Idk but I can wear whatever clothes I want now... Without having to buy a size bigger. And since I don't wear Hawaiian shirts or button up shirts, seems like a win.TEXASG7 wrote:

Re: LTC licenses now being issued
"License to Carry" what, exactly? I mean obviously it authoritizes carrying a gun, but is there something else I'm now allowed to carry? Or is it purely a CC & OC vs just CC thing?
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Re: LTC licenses now being issued
Not that it matters, but are the new LTC being done in that fancy script at the top or did they go back to the old block letters at the top? I did like the block letters better.

It's Licensed to Carry on the first line, Handgun on the second lineDave2 wrote:"License to Carry" what, exactly? I mean obviously it authoritizes carrying a gun, but is there something else I'm now allowed to carry? Or is it purely a CC & OC vs just CC thing?
LICENSED TO CARRY
____HANDGUN_____ (underlines just to indicate centered format)
The word Texas is in a script, but the LTC is just like recent CHL, Block lettering in REDstash wrote:Not that it matters, but are the new LTC being done in that fancy script at the top or did they go back to the old block letters at the top? I did like the block letters better.
