Houston Business Journal is running a poll with the question - Should other businesses follow Whataburger's lead and prohibit open carry on their private property?

Only 86 votes so far, but the results are 78% YES. :nono:

Here is a link to the poll if you should choose to voice your opinion: http://c.bizjournals.com/ct/c/94891622/ ... I5MDc3MjAy

It would be interesting to see what the response would be in a poll of Texas registered voters...

It's really too simplistic a poll to properly represent the challenges presented when God-given rights clash. I weighed in, though.

Do a quick Google on Texas Open Carry Voter Polls. There's info there, but I bet you don't like it.

My grandmother was saying just the other night when I was talking to her that she would be very nervous to go anywhere with people carrying handguns in the open. She has been around guns and hunting her whole life so it's not the guns she disapproves of, or even concealed carry. She was saying she just felt better not seeing them in public. Pretty sure even after I have often carried around her for a year, she still doesn't know I carry concealed.

This isn't meant to say I am for or against it, it honestly won't bother me much, but it does show how someone who doesn't carry feels about it. The only thing it might change for me is I'm looking into a SOB holster for my 4.5 XDm 40 so that if I wanted to carry it after 1/1/16 and my shirt didn't cover/stay covering it then it wouldn't be a big deal.

From the few articles I looked at briefly, I'm not surprised. Seems that most folks are happy with CHL being a good compromise. I don't trust internet polls, such as the one listed above. Based on the publication that it sponsoring it, I would suspect it to be lopsided heavily in favor of businesses not allowing OC... however, once an OC activist finds the poll, the call goes out to everyone on gun forums to "hit this poll", skewing the results the other direction.

A random sampling is a little more scientific.

same things were all stated when CHL was getting ready to start... It will be a non-event, just give folks time to adjust.
