Please recommend San Antonio-area CHL courses

Thank you Mr. Cotton and all for providing and contributing to this forum.

(My apologies if I've misfiled this post. The subject seemed closest.)

I would like to get a Texas CHL. I'm licensed in Washington state, and expect that Texas' reciprocity is effective, but I definitely want the legal instruction and other learning that comes with the Texas CHL course.

Please would people share their experiences with local instruction to help me choose a course. So far, I'm thinking of trying to get a course with Mr. Ted Bonnet or Mr. Michael Arnold.

Thank you for your time and help.

David

Welcome to the forum!

According to this reciprocity map, Texas honors a Washington license, but not vice-versa, so no reciprocal agreement exists between the two. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong!)

I'm in the D/FW area, so no help with CHL instructors in San Antonio.

Texas honors Washington, Washington doesn't yet return

Thanks, hi-power! :-)

And you're absolutely right, I misused the word "reciprocity".
My best information is that Texas honors my Washington CPL not based on a reciprocity agreement, but on a unilateral proclamation by the Texas governor.

Washington doesn't yet recognize the Texas CHL:

amcit,

I got my initial CHL and renewal from Sammy Miller. He is (last I looked) an investigator for the DA's office, former SAPD guy, and he brings in one of the local assistant DAs to speak on legal aspects. Worked well for me.

Here's his website:

Good luck.

p.s. After checking his website, I see he has added a local judge as well as the prosecutor to his course.

Thanks elb
