Seems like if you simply asked, "who is the best CHL instructor", I would expect the best instructors to excel with both female and male students.

Good luck with finding the right person. Glad your S.O. is ready to take this step.

Leaning more towards female based or taught by female. That is within average price
I think Linda of Crossfire Training is in the DFW area.

DPS publishes a list. You can look for female names in your area code if she prefers a woman.

Never quite understood the sexual preference being the important thing vs the skill of the instructor. Who will do your heart surgery, a mediocre woman surgeon or a skilled male surgeon (and you could reverse that as well)? I am a male taking trap and skeet training from a woman instructor. Pick the best person for the job regardless of race, sex, etc.

some women are very intimidated by a man. there were times when I was learning that my fear of failing in front of my husband basically became a self-fulfilling prophecy. I've never really had a problem with a male instructor because my college marksmanship instructor was a man, he's the one who got me past the bit of fear I did have.
