So my original fingerprints were rejected......

after applying for a renewal of my CHL online. I received a letter from DPS instructing me on who to contact to get digital prints made.
I set up an appointment and was fingerprinted sucessfully. Then the person doing the fingerprinting gave me a signed document and instructed me to mail it in to the DPS.
Is this correct? Don't they automatically transmit those digital prints to DPS?
I checked the status of my application this morning and instead of "Fingerprints Rejected" It says "Fingerprints Under Review" again.
Can anyone clarify this for me?

You will have to get them redone again, hope you kept your receipt, there are still bad prints sent in form L1, it still happens even with the digital prints. Contact the location that printed you.

What am I missing. I thought new fingerprints were no longer required for renewals.

They are required if your old fingerprints on file are no good. There could still be some out there that were inked and need to be resubmitted, even though originally accepted. There could also be a marginal set of electronic prints that were accepted for the previous license being issued but are now unacceptable to the person at DPS reviewing them.
As for the OP, if you have redone your prints and your status changed after the prints were done, they have probably been received by DPS. I would go ahead and fax them a copy of the letter that L1 (Morpo Trust) gave you just to be on the safe side.

When I was up for renewal my father was hyped to get his CHL. Initially he received notification that his fingerprints were turned down and he would have to have them redone. Before we could make an appointment for the prints, his plastic arrived. Go figure.

Off subject somewhat, but: I can’t be fingerprinted by machine anymore. Ridges not deep enough. The next to last time they tried, they had to unpack the ink apparatus and use it. Then, this last time, at U.S. Customs when applying for the Customs bypass (shorter line) status, and the machine didn’t give a readable print, they inputted the computer “prints waived”. Now, when bypassing the regular Customs line, I scan my passport at the special kiosk, stick my hand in for printing, and the usual sheet of paper comes out, but with a large X across it. Then I give the reject sheet to the special agent nearby, he sees the X, scans my passport on his scanner, sees “Prints Waived”, and motions me on my way.
