I got in a wreck yesterday and some thug with gold teeth and his "home boys" surrounded my car saying theyre going to kill me and one of them starts pounding on my window and jumping on the hood of my car making threats to kill me. I told 911 i had a chl and was ready to defend myself. If they broke my window i would have had to defend myself. The whole time i never pulled out my gun so they dont know i have any guns. What did i do wrong if anything? Oh, heres the kicker this happened about 5 doors down from a a duplex i just moved into on friday and when i went home my neighboors that are friends with the guy told me "you better hope they dont come down here tonight". Later hat night the people that made threats againist my life kept yelling what they planned on doing to me and kept walking in front of my duplex

Sounds like you should
Call the police about the threats
Move immediately as in tomorrow. Have friends help you, as many as possible. Have 911 and your CC on standby.

Didn't thoroughly reconnoiter the AO prior to establishing your base of operations there.

Seriously, I would move from there like NOW. Looks like your destin for a firearm fight. Moving in this case is a form of avoiding the threat. Once the bullet leaves the barrel you cant call it back. Moving away from the threat is much easier than court expences etc......Looks to me like that threat is Always going to be there.
It's all up to you. Im just saying what I would do.

Agree with the other posters. You handled it well enough from the sounds of it. I'd move if it's a rental / lease situation. The cost to break a lease would not be a deterrent to me if I thought the area was that rough. Your life/peace of mind is worth more.

I'd make sure I was always carrying outside of the house and either carrying or within arms reach inside of the house.
Then I'd call and report them to the HOA for landscape violations.
(Or start looking for a new place.)

I think the only difference I would have change is my verbage. I've been drilling into myself the phrase "i'm in fear for my life" so that I don't say "I'm gonna shoot..." I think this is more defensible in court if the 911 tapes record me saying, over and over, "i'm in fear for my life" and then it's followed by gun shots. When I mention I have a CHL my next phrase will be "i'm in fear for my life."
Just my 2cents. Great job
Why aren't you packing yet?? You need to move.

I agree. In fact, its better to rent a moving van, pack your stuff NOW and just go and find another place. This sounds potentially very very bad and very quickly.

Sounds like you did a good job. You definitely should have called 911 when they were outside making threats. Usually the threats are dry and nothing happens and it blows over. However, do to your close proximity I would also worry about your car getting vandalized. One option is to talk to these guys after the fact and jokingly try and blow it over. Not everybody would be comfortable with that and I would only recommend that if you can stay cool and are comfortable in that position. Moving might be another option, or not. Be aware of your surroundings.

You got in a wreck with someone who knew your neighbors, and knew you lived next door? Holy heck you are unlucky.
All that being said distance and speed are your friend. Was the wreck your fault? If not, I would have just driven off.
I would point out her that assuming all facts are exactly are as stated, the pure disparity of force would have made be consider all options at my disposal.

Ok. First off if they threatened you bodily harm you need to make an official on record compliant with your local LEO! Even if you don't know names you need this on record. I would also recommend going to the station and doing this and not out in front of your home. Second you obviously moved into the wrong area of town. Do what have to do and see how to get out of your lease. This could cost you but it is obvious the people next door and the thugs are a bad element. As others have said remove your self from the situation! Always carry on your person and if these guys do something you have it on record. Never underestimate stupid people!

People threatening you in a group is gang activity! Even if they are not in an official gang what they did is threaten your life as a group. Report it!

Your reason to move is gang activity on the property and at your neighbors house. Tell management you want out of your lease. If they refuse move anyway and file suit in small claims court for your fees and moving expenses. File your suit before they file theirs for breaking the lease
