Riding or driving?

If riding, be sure to keep it concealed. Don't let your shirt blow up over it in some gusty winds. Know the laws in all states. Have fun and be safe. It is an "experience" if you are going for the ralley. Stay hydrated as it is very hot.

Hope you have a great time and don't expect much sleep! A friend of mine stays at a campground about 15 miles outside of town because it's a little calmer for nighttime, but he said the bikes are still firing up at any hour of the night. Overall, he always has a blast.

He also says you need to ride all the way in for the full experience. . . apparently there's been a recent trend of guys who trailer their bikes somewhere nearby and then only ride the last part into town.

You should be in for some fun. If you are riding, watch out for the wind. Those long stretches across Wy and SD can get tiring with those persistant crosswinds! Find the friendly folks and hang out with them. They are mostly good guys, but a fair amount of troublemakers tend to mingle in so stay alert.

Be careful about magazine capacity laws in CO. You cannot have a magazine that will accept more than 15 rounds.

I rode to Sturgis 3 years ago and CC'd the entire trip. Be careful. Don't drink and carry. You shouldn't have any issues with your CC as long as you behave and obey the law. Pay careful attention to states motorcycle laws. I see you're planning to skip Nebreaska, they have a helmet law. There maybe other special laws. I once heard the South Dakota doesn't allow Sunglasses after dusk, I don't know if that remains in force. I've never seen the law written, I was told a story by another biker that took a trip to Sturgis years before and was stopped for wearing his shades late.

I took US 83/183/283 up through central Nebraska, then hwy 2 west. My return trip was through WY, CO , and NM.

The Black Hills is some of the most beautiful riding I have ever done. Be careful. The views are spectacular but the roads are have many curves, and many bikers especially during bike week. Speed kills. Be careful.

I took a early morning ride through Custer National Park. I was the only one in the road, temperature in the low 40's. way cool, pun intended. I started seeing signs of a buffalo herd having crossed the road, and was dodging their patties. Then I came up to the herd, some still in the road. I slowed. The herd grew around me and suddenly I was trapped by dozens of buffalo, all I could do was wait for them to move along. They didn't. Approx 15 minutes later I was approached by and oncoming forest ranger who was kind enough to push the herd clear of the road with his truck. That was an awesome ride.

The ride over to Devils Tower is also amazing. The road itself is less so than the views of the tower.

You have a great trip ahead of you. enjoy.

Be safe, stay hydrated including electrolytes, know the laws, and pray that none of the OMCs/1% start blasting each other.

You are better than me. I personally don't go anywhere, where the number of people present exceed the number of bullets available.

We go very year but for different reasons than most. I work at the Mission at the Cross right at the northbound exit to Junction. Look for the big white cross. We spend our week helping sober up the drunks the cops drop off as well as helping stranded people find a way home (guys leave their gals alone there more often than you'd think). Last year we were also one of the drop off points for the Biker Down group. Look us up if you need any help.

Pm me from here to reach me personally. I'll be in Sturgis from Friday afternoon though Wednesday morning of the rally. If you happen to drop by the mission ask for Skipper.
