I don't have an account over there nor interest in making one. Feel to add if you wish.

Thanks for posting. We normally go to the Time Square Cinema anyway. Now we don't have to decide between the two as Carmike will no longer be an option for my family.

I am also writing them a letter to them to let them know we will not be returning.

I have no reference other than the cinder blocks in the back. Are the letters 1" or greater in height?

I can add it. I need some additional info.

Where is the sign located? (e.g. left side front entrance, right side ticket booth)

Is this the correct address 7415 S. Broadway, Tyler, TX?

Is the sign compliant? (1" letters?)

I will head back there tomorrow and get the correct info for you. As far as I could tell they were 1" letters and that address sounds correct for it is on S Broadway. I will do my best to update ya tomorrow.

People are not happy about this either...

Williams says on Monday, the Carmike headquarters told him that the signs were meant to keep guns out of theaters in open carry states, where patrons had reported feeling uncomfortable.
Yeah ok, the sign is supposed to ban open carry only.

Except this is not an open carry state, and the sign does not refer to open carry but specifically to concealed carry.

That is what I meant, the image in the OP is blocked at work. I assume that it is a valid 30.06 sign?

While it is disappointing, it will not make much difference for me as I have only been to the Carmike twice in the seventeen years that I have lived in the Tyler Area.

Sometimes, the executives of an organization, who are in one State, assume that the gun laws in all the States where they do business are the same. I had researched the sign on Buffalo Wild Wings and found it consistent with their home State laws.

The Internet shows Carmike Cinema as headquartered in Columbus, GA. According Opencarry.org, you may open carry in GA with a permit. Wikipedia says the same. Perhaps that is the source of the problem in TX.

Carmike cinemas have had anti gun signs for quite a while...it's just now becoming an issue?

Someone brings it up on facebook here locally and two days later it is on the TV news. I guess public defamation works...lol

The difference is now that the signs carry legal weight and ban us from carrying.

But I've seen that sign there for months??? Carmike Cinemas as a whole have been known to be anti-gun for a long time and they posted that sign late last year...but I find it curious that is is just now becoming an issue?? Why?? the local gun pages on facebook for East Texas saw this issue raised and two days later, it's on the news. Looks to me like the 'raising awareness on social media' works...lol

I'm not against the stink being raised by any means but why did it wait this long to be an issue? I posted Carmike Cinemas in Tyler months ago on both the 'GunFreeZones' and the 'Posted!' apps on the mobile phones (not that those apps get much contribution in the Tyler area).
