Where do you carry your license?

#1

Post by Gunner4640 »

I was just wondering where everyone is carrying their license when armed? :headscratch
I bought a neck chain id holder for mine. I was told by a leo that having it around your neck is best. It stops reaching for a wallet when your gun is on your hip. :txflag

How's that LEO going to know you have a gun on your hip before you show him your CHL and he asks where it is?

I put mine with my DL I figure if I have to produce one I will have to produce the other.

Mine lives directly underneath my DL. I've never had to remove it except during renewals.

A neck chain id holder sounds like a step too close to a CHL badge to me. :leaving

Stays in my wallet.

I keep mine with my DL.If I were a LEO doing a traffic stop, I would be a lot more suspicious of someone reaching down their shirt than for their wallet. Though I would keep my eyes on their hands and my hand on my gun until they presented the DL.

I am going to tell him I have a chl and my id is on my neck while the whole time my hands will be on the steering wheel or in plain sight and not moving in any way until he tells me to do so.

When I don't put mine in my fanny pack, I put it on my neck chain holder. :biggrinjester:

IMHO, you should have your DL, CHL and insurance out and sitting on your dash or in your left hand while both hands are on the steering wheel. No need to tell him, just hand him the ID and let him ask questions.

Good point. I'm not going to even say where my dl and car insurance is carried. It sounds like I started something here I didnt want to by asking 1 question.
