time getting comfortable?

Haven't carried in public but twice, mainly just got license.
I have a p938 and leather holster. Just curious how many times it took you
to carry before you stopped constantly thinking about it?

Depends a lot on the person. Just remember that what you're doing is perfectly legal and relax. It took me about a week or so before I decided that people weren't staring at me.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy enjoy your 938 as much as I enjoy my 238! I have really been looking at them and considering going to an all 9mm platform, with one of these as a BUG or "scrub carry".

BTW - does it have a magazine disconnect or will it fire with the mag out - just asking because the safety is off in the picture and it came to mind. I carry cocked and locked it took me a bit to come to that point.

You are right that at first they feel huge and you are sure everyone is staring and there is a gun shaped beacon over your head - I carry a M&P 9C regularly, but the 238 is my scrub gun ( I wear scrubs at work) It is easy to tuck and go in a belly band. I really enjoy shooting it as well. Hang in there it gets easier and comes to where you will feel "naked" without it!

It took me quite a while, probably longer than most because a) I work a job where I can't carry so I didn't carry most of the day and b) I wore clothes that didn't work that great for conceal carry, so until I bought some new clothes and lost some weight I had to consciously dress around carrying.

Now, after a couple years, it's almost second nature. I still have to think about what I'm wearing at times as not all my clothes are conducive to CC, but between a mostly new wardrobe, getting comfortable with it, and getting a pocket gun for situations where my XD doesn't fit the bill, it's not even much of a thought for me anymore.

it took me about a week.....but then my husband had been carrying for a while and so had several of his friends....I really don't remember it taking him terribly long to feel comfortable with it...but then it's been quite a while.

I had put together my carry rig before I took my class. I would carry concealed around the house whenever I was home just to get used to it. Even then it took me a day or so to become comfortable in carring in public but not as long as it would had I not carried at home.

Still getting there myself...I've been carrying since August.

Incidentally, I have the same EDC, P938 Nightmare. I really like the weapon. I would recommend carrying with the safety engaged though, it is off in your picture. I carry it chambered, cocked, but with the safety engaged.

Welcome to the club! You just got to remember to relax because that is the key thing. You’re not use to carrying and your mind is still wired that way. Like The Fonz says “Be Cool!” What I mean by that is you can’t act all nervous like you’re carrying a gun or people are going to suspect something. Just be calm because there is nothing to be nervous about. Start off slow until your feel more comfortable. If you are wearing the proper clothes to conceal your firearm and it located at good position for concealment, than I believe you have nothing to worry about. Play the part and you will be alright!

I went for the McDonald's fries and a drink inside my local Wallyworld because they didn't have nachos either. But I made up for it by posting pictures. As you'll recall, I had to undergo some circumlocutions to get my mancard back because I first went to Target and Market Street and then went out for sushi. The worthy members voted that this did not count, and so I went back out to make good on it, and provided some photographic proof.....thereby starting a trend which seems to have burned itself out but was worth some laughs for a while.

As for the OP, I am one of the folks that has taken a long time. In Oklahoma I always carried in a fanny pack and it was easy. Here in TX I made the jump to IWB. My LCP tucks into anything and is super easy to carry. The G26 will occasionally get me slightly fidgety if I convince myself that the tail of the shirt is a tad short or if I convince myself that the t-shirt shrunk in the dryer. Even then, I only worry if I have to bend over much. When fidgety, I always ask myself how many people I cross paths with in a store and how many of those did I check for a possible CC? Very, very few.
