PSA- Attention Criminals

#1

Post by magillapd »

I was inspired today when I was forced to disarm in order to go into Jarrod's diamond store. My wife doesn't see things like I do, and if I didn't want to sleep on the couch It was best to comply. I did make it very plainly clear that I wasn't happy being in there. :mad5 (I honestly hoped that someone would come in to rob it so that she would feel helpless....maybe that would wake her up to my arguement).

Anyways, I decided to create a form letter to #1 send to stores that I see posted and also to post onto Craigslist (of course it got flagged :rules: , but hopefull someone saw it and got my point)

Anyways, here is my letter:

PSA- Attention Texas Criminals
This being Texas and thus many Texans choosing to legally carry concealed weapons, I urge you to think twice about committing crimes against people in public places. I would highly suggest that you check out texas3006.com before venturing out for your criminal activity. What this website helps you determine is what business outright ban law abiding citizens from legally carrying concealed firearms into their stores/businesses. If you focus your robberies, assaults, and whatever other crime, on these businesses only, your chances of getting out alive are almost 100% certain. If a business is not on that website, make sure you look at the entrance to any business you plan on robbing first.

Look for this sign!!!!!
"PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF A LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN) A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (CONCEALED HANDGUN LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN."

"CONFORME A LA SECCIÓN 30.06 DEL CÔDIGO PENAL (TRASPASAR PORTANDO ARMAS DE FUEGO) PERSONAS CON LICENCIA BAJO DEL SUB-CAPITULO H, CAPITULO 411, CODIGO DE GOBIERNO (LEY DE PORTAR ARMAS), NO DEBEN ENTRAR A ESTA PROPIEDAD PORTANDO UN ARMA DE FUEGO."

If you see this sign, you know that you’ll be the only one in there with a gun and being a criminal, you already know that you don't care about some stupid sign or heck, any stupid penal code so just waltz right in knowing that there will be no one inside with the means to fend you off and you can just rape, pillage and destroy to your heart’s content.
I would strongly advise against entering any business that doesn't have that sign posted. Doing so could be a deadly mistake. People who carry guns don't go to the places who forbid them from carrying. But......they do carry in the stores that believe in a person's right to carry a weapon in defense of themselves or others.
So remember, 30.06 means crime spree galore. No sign means stay out if you want to live!!

Have a blessed day.

Seriously?? While I don't always agree with businesses and their ideals behind enforcing their right to ban us, I don't see how anyone can wish for their loved ones to be put in harms way, for a lesson or otherwise.

Even the fact that you want this letter published is concerning to me. That's prectically inviting the stupid criminals who haven't thought about it. Again I understand your frustration about businesses enforcing these signs, I think this kind of action will do more harm than good, since those who aren't aware of these kinds of laws and signs in place still visit those places very often, this kind of strategy eccentially places more innocent people in harms way. I fail to find anything humerous about it.

I think you're reading too hard there, buddy. I don't think anyone wants to go through that situation. I think the OP just merely wanted to express his feelings for places that have our weapons banned. Nothing more. I'm sure he was trying to relieve the matter in a humorous way, too.

It's going to be ok.. i promise. :)

30.06 does not mean it is gun free zone. The owner of the bisiness or the person in contro can autgrize employee to carry concealed or open or even have armed guards.

This 'letter' does point out a serious problem that businesses should stop and think about. THEY are the ones making the decision to advertise their 'Gun Free Zone'. Certainly doubt they make as important decision as this on how they spend there advertising dollars without carefully weighting. I truly believe this is why many businesses keep up an 'old' improper sign or a gun-buster red slash sign - it let's their customers feel 'safe' in a head-in-the-sand sort of way. Besides this way may not cost them the CHL business - since we know these signs don't apply to us. The criminal is going to bring in their gun (or whatever they want) anywhere they choose - regardless of any sign (as I said ..they are criminals !) The innocents out there will just assume that the police will jump out from behind a column or refrigerator case to save them - doesn't it always work that way on television? The law-abiding CHL isn't the problem - someday this simple fact may get the proper treatment in the press and public view.

That may be so, however, if I'm going to make a point in a humorous fashion, somwhere in that statement I'd make it clear that my intentions are in fact supposed to somewhat comical. Not to wish a threatening situation on my wife, and not make my comical intentions unknown. And I surely wouldn't post that letter to the open public on craigslist if that's not how I felt. Many of the readers there surely wouldn't have seen that as a humorous statement. just my opinion

I also want to note that it's not the letter itself I don't agree with, because in general I do. I just think it would be better say what is needed without telling criminals that they can come to these places and not expect resistance. It's encouraging them to do so, even though there's a point being made, it's like pointing a muzzle at something you're not prepared to destroy.

I don't mean this in a bad way but I think your first issue is your wifes attitude. There is no way I'm disarming to enter a business with a sign and if she is she can go alone.

It's never the wife's attitude, or the wife's problem or ever, never.. EVER.. the wife's fault. Under ANY circumstances. That is what you agreed to when you got married. Read the fine print, fellas. :rules: :smash:

I have had the same and only one for 36 years. She would not try to dictate to me whether I can carry or not or just about anything else that is legal and something I feel strongly about. And I assure you it goes both ways.

The truth is my wife has been mugged at gunpoint before, so she knows already what it's like to be a victim. She has since changed her mind and respects my feelings on this matter. I will disarm to enter certin places, but only if I CHOSE TO DO SO!

Me pointing out the 30.06 to some deviant is not going to make them go rob a place, no more the someone yelling at me will cause me to shoot them. I am going to print that letter and mail it to every single business that I see posting 30.06. Maybe it will open their eyes, maybe not. I'm very happy to excerise my 1st ammendment right in talking about my 2nd ammendment right!! :patriot: :txflag:

Jarrod's ain't worth it. They used to be my favorite jewelry store (before I moved to Texas). In my last state, I bought jewelry from them on 10+ occasions, with 3 of those being significant buys. Since I moved here and became aware of their desire to restrict the rights of others, I have had no difficulty finding other places that fill my needs in this area. My wife knows that Jarrods, and their sister company Kay, are off limits for my dollars and if she wants any jewelry, she needs to look at Zales, Tiffany's, etc.

Jarrod's is replaceable. They told me they don't want my business when they posted that sign. If someone tells me they don't want me around, I move on. I don't need to be told twice.
