MPA / CHL?

#1

Post by blue »

Say you are working on the car and decide to test drive But left your CHL plastic at home.

-Are you covered by MPA?

-Do we have protection under MPA PLUS added on CHL protection?

In my case I would have left my driver's license at home also since  I keep DL and CHL together in my wallet.

:iagree:

That's why I keep a photo copy of my DL and CHL in my center console with my insurance card it's not as good as the real thing but it's better than nothing
It is easier to get an airport security clearance than a CHL

Technically, if you have a CHL, and are armed, you are required to display the CHL if asked for ID by an officer (whether carrying under the CHL or MPA). Although the penalty for not doing so has been removed.

Agree you are supposed to show the CHL, no penalty if you don't. MPA still covers you, just don't get stopped by a Federal Marshall in a school zone. But, the likelihood of that is ....
(Gun Free School Zone exemption for those with a license issued in the State in which the school zone is located)

Yes , Keep DL and CHL together.
And the copys in the vehicle-Good idea, (But kinda hidden in case of breakin.)

Since it all shows up when DL is run, and no penalty for not showing CHL, then it should not matter.
(Just wondering if the MPA and the CHL overlap or totally separate or CHL gets both.)

Thanks,

MPA still covers you, I suppose you could get a ticket for not displaying your CHL, but since there is no penalty, I really doubt it ..... MPA still covers you anyway in the car as long as it's concealed.
A driving without a driver's license ticket is another matter.

I believe that even if stopped by a Fed, the fact that that you had a CHL would make you exempt from GFSZA. There is no rule in the federal law that you must have the card on you. Now you may take the proverbial "ride"...but you could even with the card.

Either 46.02 applies to someone at a specific time and place, or it doesn't.

If 46.02 applies then MPA applies (if the person is not a criminal, etc.) because MPA is part of 46.02.

If 46.02 does not apply, for whatever reason, then it doesn't apply and the person can't be violating a law that doesn't apply to them.
When in doubt
