carrying on a public bus in Austin?

Today I took the bus home from downtown Austin. As I boarded I noticed a sign that said: "no weapons on the premises". I have not seen this before but before I had my CHL I was not noticing such things. My question is: can I carry on a cap metro bus in austin?

Not a lawyer, may I ask did you see a 30.06 notice? if no, so?

I don't have it handy but several years ago the AG issued an opinion that public transportation was just that, public. A CHL could not be prevented from carrying on a public bus, train or other conveyance.

Yes. You are not breaking the law by carrying a concealed handugun, assuming you have a CHL.

Thanks for the responses ... I suspected that I could carry (with a CHL) on a public bus as I could not see anything in the law about it. In any case, thanks for the validation.

Even if there were a 30.06, wouldn't it be unenforceable? Public transportation is owned by a government entity and, therefore, a 30.06 would be unenforceable.
Just my opinion. I am not a lawyer and do not play one on TV.

Cap Metro's Website states that Licensed carriers are fine on Capmetro Property, including buses....
I ride every morning, and this was something I researched before getting my CHL....

Government Bus, Driven on a Government Road, Fueled by Government Fuel.
Carry away, even in the presence of a valid 30.06 sign. This falls under 30.06(e)
