CHL Shooting at a gas station. (DFW)

#1

Post by Beiruty »

I just noticed that there was a shooting between two after a road rage and an argument and one of the shooter had a CHL. One was injured no more info at this time. Place is I-30 and Winslow. The CHL might not be charged if he fired in self-defense.

KXAS ch. 5 is reporting that after an accident on 30 they pulled into a service station where an argument insued. They pulled their guns and started shooting. One of the rage participants and an innocent bystander who was pumping gas were hit. Not too much info given, yet. Didn't say if it was the CHL holder who was hit, or one of the others.

Anyone got a link to this? I checked the news on wfaa.com but didn't see anything.

It's my neck of the woods so I'd be interested in following this story as well.

I've been looking on all the major radio & tv websites since 10am, and I've see nothing on it.

I heard about it on WFAA Channel 8 this morning at 8:00 or 9:00, but I can't find a link on any of the 3 local news channels about it.

What I picked up on from WFAA was that an innocent bystander had been hit. The two involved in the accident/road rage incident were unhurt.

I agree! The DMN and WFAA are both owned by Belo Corp. The stories were very different. Usually, the DMN has in print almost word for word what is said on WFAA.

I read the article, and in it, they said that Steve Griffen flashed a gun and "said" that he had a license to carry the gun. Anybody can say that they have a license to carry a gun. Was it actually confirmed that he did indeed have a CHL? Also, the article didn't say that the other person had a gun. Did Steve Griffen fire on unarmed people?

One of the comments below the article said:

I sure hope the guy does not have a CHL but even if he does not it does not put the MPA in a good light.

Do not pull over.Suck it up and go about your merry way.CHL or not,if you pull over concerning road-rage,you need your head examined.Pulling over may cost some one a whole bunch of time and money. You need to laugh at the other guy and go home. If it is bad enough, call 911.Usually,the 1st one that calls has a better chance of being the "good guy".

If I'm reading the report correctly, they pulled-over at the gas station to exchange information from the accident that they were involved in. What I read into this is...Mr. Zenas Hicks was likely confronted by the lunatic Griffin at the site of the accident, and felt he had better pull-over somewhere where there were witnesses and better lighting...so they went the two blocks down the street to exchange info. Once at the station, Griffin boiled-ever and started shooting.

You're right Rusty, if this was a simple road-rage incident, don't stop. But if Mr. Hicks didn't stop during this incident, he could have been charged with hit and run.
