Had to keep my mouth shut at work today

I had to keep my mouth shut at work today as not to ruffle anyones feathers.
I dont yet have my CHL (still $20 short on the DPS fee) but will be getting it soon.
We had a special speaker come in today and talk about auto theft and burglary. One of the older ladies asked about keeping a gun in your car. I didnt say anything at the time but approached her after the seminar. We didnt have a lot of time as we were both heading back to our desks but I told her about the castle doctrine, Motorists Protection Act, and what is needed to pursue a CHL.
Some guy butted in the conversation and seemed to be fine with CHL in general but then made an off the wall comment along the lines of...Did you hear about that moron in Az that wants to make it legal to carry concealed in highschools?! Can you imagine all those kids running around with guns?! I just politely said, well here in TX you have to be 21 to have a chl and not to many "kids" in highschool are 21.
He just said, "Yeah but..."
Another illogical, and not thought out statement made by a liberal. Ill let you guess what city I work in.
Thanks for letting me rant.

I would strongly advise never, ever, discuss CHLs at work. Just my $.02 and your mileage may vary.

I concur. Texas is an "at will" state.

Fellow workers and I discuss guns and CHL's all the time!
Everyone's in favor of gun ownership.

And the prize goes to RHENRIKSEN for guessing Austin! You get 100 points. Points are redeemable between the hours of 2:36am and 2:37am.
As for not mentioning CHL at work...
I thought about not mentioning anything but figured that since I dont have my CHL and thus dont carry at work that I was pretty safe with only mentioning two current state laws (MPA and Castle doc.) and the fact that if she wanted to get a CHL she could. While we are an "at will" state, people in my department have mentioned a lot more about firearms than I told this lady. So I was more concerned about getting this guys panties in a twist than HR learning I told this lady what the law states.

It is hard not to discuss it in my office. We have about 80 employees and I know of 14 that have a CHL.

See, having a CHL is one of those things that you may have (or are about to get), that means when the biggest, meanest, smelliest, bad-mouthing cuss that is in your face telling you that they are going to do very bad things to you...
When you just look up at them, smile...And say, "Now let me see if I get this straight." (hopefully diffusing the situation) Knowing you have the ability to take care of it in a most decisive manner...And then don't have to...
When you can do that, that means you have snatched the pebble from the masters hand, and it is time for you to leave...
As far as telling anyone about your little piece pf plastic...The state, my wife, and my Dad (and a few folks here that know me personally) are the list...No one at work will ever know...
It really makes for some trying times like what RiveraRa had to go thru, but thats ok...You did good...
