I believe you're talking about when you're sending in the application and information along with your check or money order. Once the check or money order clears, that's as good of proof of receiving the packet as being certified except you won't have a name of a person receiving it.

I liked having a tracking record and name of who signed for it.

Our instructor said play it safe. Send it USPS Certified Mail with Return Receipt. He said something about all the stuf coming from Fedex and UPS goes to a different building and might delay the process some. Don't know if that is true or not.

The only advantage to certified I found was getting the receipt. I certified mailed mine and another guy from my class used normal mail. His went into processing about three weeks quicker than mine. His CHL was issued nearly a month earlier also. There seems to be no advantage other than the receipt. :tiphat:

It may not help, I don't know. But since it'll give you great peace of mind, it sure won't hurt either!

Hah, that actually the logic I used when I sent in my C&R app.

I did the apply online deal, so they already hit the CC.

It makes sense that there might be a delay sending them return receipt. After all someone from DPS has to sign or stamp the back of the packet instead of just pick it up. Perhaps I will just do delivery confirmation, that way I know they got it, but don't have to send anything back.

Oh hell, maybe I will go drop it off myself. I want to go to Austin and get some crepes anyways. :biggrinjester:

I sent mine certified, and a guy in my class sent his regular snail mail. I got mine 2 days before he got his. It's a toss up. I recommend certified so that it doesn't 'get lost in the mail'.

Doesn't seem to make a difference because DPS will not acknowledge it for a while. I sent mine UPS for my piece of mind. I would do it in some trackable way just to ease your mind on whether or not they received it. :cheers2:

I sent my app standard mail at the window.

Didn't seem to make a difference. I got my PIN letter 29 days from when I mailed.

I just sent mine certified. That way I know when they relieved it. I dont think it will be processed any quicker and hopefully it wont make the process take any longer either.
