It involves a knife and a rifle rather than a handgun, but it does deal with the emotional aspects of threatening deadly force in an "up-close and personal" way.

You have to be even more careful during disasters. People that were teetering on the edge tend to go over it when their world is shaken.

Is it just me, or did that story seem highly embellished?

It seemed that way to me too........

BG 8 Feet away, rifle pointed at ground, safety off and finger on the trigger??????

It didn't seem embellished to me, simply because there was no extraordinary bravado or feats of bravery by the narrator. He pointed out how he wasn't really prepared, did several things wrong, and was scared sick.

"Embellished" stories usually involve tactical shoulder-rolls and swooning praise by onlookers. Or, multiple attackers in an Alabama pharmacy. :smilelol5:

Now had the BG encountered Gecko45....well, we all know what would have happened. ;-)

I also call "embellishment."

I once owned a business at the southwest corner of Shepherd and Alabama, and lived on West Grey. That was many years ago, however today...

If you want to see a half-undressed male of suspect gender-interest brandishing a machete like a fireworks sparkler and defiantly challenging the fire hydrant on the corner, well, Montrose is the place to be.

"Quirk" would be the kindest description of some of the Montrose residents. Not to say that many aren't affluent and upscale. Being near downtown, folks with big bucks have spent fortunes buying and renovating Montrose properties over the past several years.

The OP made it sound as if he were living simultaneously in a constantly-dangerous urban Ward and a pristine suburb where he could never imagine a guy coming up to him and asking a question.

The OP is obviously young, lacks experience, and has lived in that neighborhood only a short time. I'll repeat "lacks experience."
Ever since the previous night, all my weapons have been loaded, chambered, with the safety off.
I rest my case.
