New CHL Design
Just curious - has anyone heard of a new CHL design that DPS will start issuing in a month or so?

What design, we don't have an old design, what do we need a new one for.

Re: New CHL Design
Oh, you mean the plastic! I was thinking were going to get some shiny new logo somewhere or even the long sought after badges.
Have you seen what they are supposed to look like?I don't know why they are bothering I doubt that CHL forging is a real problem. Most folks will never use them as an ID. Maybe they are trying to get them meet the National ID specs. The Government is looking to get all of us chipped, but I would think it would be easier to stick one in our derriers when we get our mandatory vaccinations.

I haven't read anything, nor can I find anything on the DPS site. Maybe the microchip will monitor how many times you go to the range and practice. If you don't shoot at least twice in a year, it will self-destruct your CHL.

Re: New CHL Design
Help me understand. Why not just have CHL coded on the driver's license? I understand that renewal dates don't currently coincide, but one would think that issue could be easily resolved, and by having one document it would assure "prompt" disclosure at all law enforcement contacts. Was this ever considered by the legislature?

I am not a fan of this. As there are people that I show my ID to that I do not want to know that I have a CHL.ErnieP wrote:Help me understand. Why not just have CHL coded on the driver's license? GreyBeard - I don't know how to do the linkie thing but you can find it in the "Carry Issues" section entitled "New Texas Chl" on the GlockTalk forum. I checked it this morning and what this person indicated is it is going to happen. He indicated it is going to have a different color background and I guess some other changes.

Yep, it looks pretty legit. Thanks. While there, I threw in my .02 ...
FWIW, from one non-geek to another, , here's what works on my old computer (on most sites anyway) to pick up a link. Put cursor on title in header and left click to highlight. Then right click and select "copy". Then go to the point where you want to put it, go to "Edit" then hit "paste". http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=919607" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
