A great day... a truly great day.

Well today just keeps getting better.
To start, my wife and I set up the final payment on our last credit card. As of next Thursday, Feb 7, we will be completely debt-free! (thanks to Dave Ramsey and Financial Peace University - ask me about it if you want to be debt-free). To celebrate our new-found freedom we went on a date. Dinner and a movie. Sitting at dinner we were talking and that's when it happened. Out of the blue. Unexpected.
Wife: "I think I want to get my CHL."
Me: *trying to hide the huge smile that is spreading across my face*
Wife: "What do you think about that?"
Me: *smiling*
So there we go. Just like that.
My wife has always supported firearms, loves that I always have a gun around, and will occasionally go shooting herself, but she's never been keen on getting her own CHL (or so I thought) until now. I feel so proud I could burst!

Sounds good! I also listen to Dave Ramsey whenever possible! He gives GREAT advice for setting yourself up to be "right" financially. What unit are/were you assigned to in the 36th? I was in 4/112 AR back when it was the 49th Armored Div.

You obviously don't listen to Dave Ramsey.
Take your new found cash and go pistol shopping. After you complete baby step 3.

bburgi, my wife and I are taking the course at our church. Yesterday was our second meeting, so the long road to debt free is ahead of us though I see a small shiny light at the end. Darn, should've bought a new pistol before the class.

I'm DEBT FREE!!!!!!!! Well almost I'm selling the truck right now (I have a truck that my company pays for that I can use for personal use). Past that I have no debt. No rent, no electricity, no water, no gas (car or home), no cable bill, no gym bill. My company pays all that and gives me the truck

! Got the 401k and Roth IRA maxed and saving money into the savings account every month! Honestly if I didn't listen to Dave I'd probably be prone to spend it all on guns, girls, and a big truck. The rest I would just waste

.

Speaking of Dave Ramsey... he will be at Reunion Arena on
Saturday, February 23.
Is Reunion Arena 30.06?

I applaud all you Dave Ramsey folks, only one flaw:
Don’t use a DEBIT CARD ONLINE. Not internet purchases on debit, use credit and pay it off.

Congrats guys -- I'll be at Total Money Makeover in Dallas next week, too. It's been implied here (what am I missing in the 30.00.66 joke?), but can someone confirm that Reunion Arena is NOT posted 30.06?
I'm also talking with the FPU people and one of the ministers at our church about starting a class. All the ones around here either don't have child care or are during our other church time commitments.

For anyone interested, Reunion Arena is officially NOT posted 30.06. They actually have a sign out front indicating that the carrying of a weapon without a valid CHL is illegal.
