ALERT: AMC Theaters have posted 30.06

Last night a fellow CHLer friend and I went to see Rambo at AMC Willowbrook and saw that they now have a 30.06 posting up on their front doors. We asked one of the staff to see the management and were told he was out. She gave us the theater address as well as the corporate address for complaint. My friend later explained our problem and she told us that it was indeed a corporate decision and not isolated to that theater.
Today I went with my cousin to see Cloverleaf at AMC 30 on Dunvale just off of Richmond Ave. Sure enough, they also have put up a 30.06 sign.

Later I will be sending a letter to AMC about this. I know I will probably get general "thank you for your interest" language back, but still we can have our .02 cents worth.

Not only am I not going to frequent these now unsafe theaters anymore, but I will not organize group events to see movies at any of these theaters with friends or church classes.

I read long ago that AMC had decided to ban CHLers around the country from their theaters because "they believe movies are the place for families not guns" (dead or robbed or raped families?)

Not me or my family or any of my friends if I have a say in it :nono: :fire

It's funny that they come to this conclusion...

I remember about 10 years ago, there was a murder in the parking lot of the AMC Grand in Dallas. That theater lost a lot of business because of the incident and I'm sure there are still many people that still will not go there due to this incident. Of course that does not include any robberies, assaults, etc that may have occurred in their parking lot.

I wonder if Cinemark has started posting their locations as they are the most prominant in my area of FAR North Dallas (almost OK).

Theaters is one of those places that I tend to visit late at night in order to avoid as many of the younger generation as possible. It is also one of the places I will not go to unarmed.

With the comment that it is for the family, a family oriented place, most of my family would now be required to disarm.

Another business that will not get my money. The list continues to grow along with the list of gun free zones the BG's can attack.

Signs keep us out, will they install metal detectors to forbid entrance to the crimminal element as well.

Call them and say you require them to provide someone to walk with you to and from your car.

Just another way to make a point.

Sad to hear that. I offen go their with my kids and probably will keep going there. I don't understand what's the point in prohibiting legal owners to carry it in. So criminals will know for sure that everybody is unarmed inside and on the way in and out? State law should prohibit businesses to do that or make them to do a security check at the entrance with metal detectors if they do post.
They are putting a lot of people into potential danger. I hope any real or almost victims will sue AMC if anything happens.
Can we write them letters? Anybody knows the address? If somebody does write them put me on the list... If not I will certainly send them a letter.
Can we involve the NRA and try to explain that idiot at the top management who probably has never even been in their theaters that CHL holders are no threat to public safety but will make the place safer. Gun free zones are the best places for criminals to commit crimes and they often do choose gun free zones. That they put law abiding citizens into potential danger. That their sign will not keep out the illegal guns.
I'm very dissappointed!

Willowbrook at night is not a nice place to be. there are so many car break ins there its not even funny. While I would never advocate it, remember the term "concealed carry means concealed" and unless you need it then no one should ever know. and if you need it....you've got bigger problems.

Actually I wouldn't worry inside the theater but the walk to and from the car I want to be armed for sure.

You too???

AMC Gulfpoint 30 theater is a stones throw from us...Guess I'll wander over there tomorrow and see if it is posted as well...I won't be surprised if it is...

And I will not be saying a dirn thing to them...Letters, emails or phonecalls...I'm just firing them from entertaining me anymore if they have posted this particular theater...

The sad thing is my brother gave us a gift card for Christmas to AMC...Haven't used it yet obviously...

The one by us has contracted (off-duty) police security "in" the theater...A lot of good that does us outside...They used to have bicycle patrols running around the place, but that might have only been for the warmer months...

Like I say, I'll go check the closest one to us tomorrow...I sooooo wanted to go see that monster movie real soon...

sigh...

Oh, RATS!!!!!
:mad5

Well, if we do go, I will be asking for an escort to and from the car. Also, I will be letting them know that I am holding them financially responsible for my safety and security, since they have decided to take that responsibility from me. Therefore, they are telling me that they will protect me and my family and be financially responsible for all our medical bills and replacement of property, should some scumbag decide to rob or harm us. A multi-million dollar lawsuit might just change their minds.

Or not! :cryin

And you're not sharing this information with the board?
