Crime Zones

#1

Post by Texbow »

Has anyone seen in graphical format the amount of crimes committed in greater Houston metro area? Something like inside the loop and Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast? It would be good to see the number of assaults, car thief, etc in each of these areas. Crime can happen anywhere but I think in certain areas your awareness should be heightened.

I thought I remembered a Houston Chronicle article last year discussing crime by neighborhoods and likewise thought I remembered discussion of it here.

But searches here and at Chron.com didn't produce anything useful.

This was in our paper the other day. It maps incidents and allows you to click them for more info. It isn't real-time data but still useful.

They have a free, non-member search, free membership (about the same as non-member search) and a paid membership with supposedly more bells and whistles. Being the tightwad that I am I wouldn't know what those bells and whistles might be at the moment.

This is pretty cool. It’s an Austin area “crime map. Click on the link below…it may ask that you download the custom viewer…I did without issues.

Once at the main screen under “CRIME SEARCH TOOLS (left side of screen)….Click “Geographical area

It should bring up a parameter box at the bottom of the screen. In the parameters I chose by “ZIP Code. Enter the zipcode that you want information about and click find. It will bring up another screen listing all the arrests made…ordered by charge. Clicking on the charge (blue text) will bring up all the addresses and etc. for those charges.
