LTC renewed - what to do with old license?

#1

Post by Armybrat »

Just received my new LTC today and put it in my wallet.
My old license does not expire until December, so should it be shredded?
I do not know the protocol for disposing of the old license.

I throw mine in a drawer or the safe. I guess you can shred if you want to.

In the ancient past, we had to send it to DPS. Now, like Trog said, you just throw it in the drawer or shred, I keep my old ones in a nook on my desk along with my expired AL, NH, and CA licenses.

As I remember when I got mine last year there was a statement on the form that said the old one must be destroyed. Just like a driver's license you are not allowed to have two.

That was the first year. Was yours the four year or six year?

This is the way.

Remember that your "old" license still has several months (typically) until the expiration date. It is my understanding that you cannot possess 2 valid licenses.
