If he was off the clock, he might have had another reason for heading to your house. Confused about a friends address, etc. Stupidity is a great way to get killed, though. Not saying he wasn't up to no good, but he might have been up to nothing bad. Sounds like he had already made his last call for the night, so who knows why he was in your 'hood....
Like several others have posted, I too have delivered pizzas in my past. Almost ran a guy down one night who tried to stop me in the street after a call to a false address, and pointed a borrowed 1911 at another guy one night who scared the living hell out of me, also at another false address. I'm pretty sure he was going to jack me, but I think the Norinco gave him pause (and me, enough time to drive off).
I didn't even get out of the car if there were no lights on at a house. If there were lights, you had about 30 seconds to answer the door or I was gone.
