Found a way to check if a place is a 51% Location!

I tried looking up the Johnny Rockets in The Woodlands. cant seem to find any record of them at all. Tried the address and general search of the area through the link you provided. I would sure be interested to know since i can not see then selling more in beer than in food & shakes. I guess I will try to call TABC later. My father in law loves that place and always wants to go when he is in town, but obviously since i can't carry in there its not my top choice.

Johnny Rocket's locations are not 51%. I think they may have had a 51% sign posted at one time, but TABC was supposed to have contacted them and have them put up the unlicensed possession sign (< 51% sign). I have never been, but I am not even sure they have a license and/or serve alcohol.

I know they had the sign in their window that they had applied for their alchohal license and a month or two later that sign came down and the 51% came up. Haven't been lately but now I will go check next time I'm in the area to see if the 51% is down. Thanks for the info.

Found their license info. They are licensed as Wilson Commissary Supplies LLC. License number is BG710300. This shows wine percentage as 17%. If they listed themselves as a 51% business, I can almost guarantee they are not. A call to TABC to check their status in receipts would probably be in order. Best bet is to check their license if you go in.

I'm sorry if I don't understand, are you saying that wine sales are 17%? The BG definition is confusing but if you read the BQ definition right below it uses the same wording but there is more to it. I read it to be 17% alcohol by volume and doesn't have anything to do with sales. Again sorry if that is what you meant and I am misreading things.

Sorry, yes, the 17% is alcohol by volume, not percentage of sales. So, still no way to tell their percentage of sales, but I can't see any way they are a 51% location considering the volume of food they sell. I doubt many folks go there just to hang out and drink.

I don't live in Austin so I have never been to this one. But they have different owners so my first guess would be two different places in the same building but they have nothing to do with each other. Just my guess.

I was thinking more like a strip mall where there are different stores that have nothing to do with each other rather than two stores sharing one space. But I haven't been there so you probably know better than I do. My experience with The Flying Saucer in Garland by Bass Pro Shop is that their percentage of alcohol is way way way above 51%.

In all honesty though I VERY rarely drink. In fact I had my first beer last year (a Coors... dunno if that counts LOL). I've never had more than two drinks in one day, and that was on a cruise in the middle of the Caribbean where I was a loooong way from my gun. I really think it is the later and the folks that put them up just don't know which one they are supposed to use and post the wrong one. Let's face it, many of these places do not have rocket scientists for employees, even though they are mixing rocket fuel.

Just a note that I think this is a moot point now. The two Johnny Rockets near the Katy area are suddenly gone. I went there on Tuesday and planned a party with my daughter for Saturday. Came back that Saturday and the interior was stripped and out in a dumpster and the windows had been sheetrocked in and it was being converted to something else! Certainly was a shock after planning a trip specifically to go there for dinner!

But that doesn't mean that the Woodlands one is gone yet.

IIRC Red Robin has free fry refills, a kids eat free day, and and I've never seen one with 30.06 signs posted.
