Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I'm really interested on seeing the response from Doubletree Hotel to Jerry Patterson.
I recently visited the hotel for some event and when I went through the side door, I didn't notice a 30.06 sign, so I carried. I wanted to be sure that they didn't have a 30.06 sign and did a search on texas3006.com but it came up that they had a legal 30.06 at the front door. I really hoped that they didn't because I have regular events there that I attend and this will be the determining factor on if I will attend any further or not.

Thanks for the link, but it didn't exactly answer my question. I'm guessing nobody knows if Doubletree responded to Jerry, and I'm guessing even if Doubletree responded, they haven't removed their 30.06 signs so...

:mad5 I guess I should start writing a letter to the hotel.

Hilton Hotel at 2001 Post Oak Blvd still has 30.06 signs as of 8/4/13, verified by me. I wrote a letter to the CEO of Hilton.

The thread never dies because Hilton never fixes their mistake. We have to keep reminding people to not use Hilton.

Sign below not legal (not contrasting letters), but it still makes me mad, and I don't want to be the test case either...

That looks contrasting enough to tell me not to give them any business.

while we share the enthusiasm, I am fairly certain we are not allowed to say the word you used to describe your feelings.

Totally legal sign. There is no definition of what 'contrasting' is in the statutes. If you can see it, it is contrasting.

Where was that sign? I was all over that hotel during the NRA extravaganza and never saw a 30.06 sign. I wonder if they put it up after we were there?

Last time I was there, it was located on the east entrance. That was a couple years ago. The problem I had with it was that it was not posted if a person came in through the parking lot entrance. I never saw the sign because I never came in the entrance it was at. I knew it was there because of this forum.

I just noticed the picture was from a Hilton in Houston. I was referring to the Hilton in downtown Austin. It has that same sign but like I said, you never see it if you come in through the parking garage.

Charles,
There is a side entrance on ground level facing the GRB (facing Avenida de las Americas). That one was most definitely posted the last time I walked by, and I believe it may be the same one as in the picture below

We stayed at the Hilton across from GRB during the NRA Convention. Came and went
through mutiple entrances, including the "walk over bridge" to the parking garage. Never
saw a single 30.06 or gunbuster sign posted.

OK, so again I may be wrong but it won't be the first or last time...

I thought I had read that state law allowed:
1- A person to have it in their vehicle.
2- A person to have it in their residence or dwelling under their control, i.e home, apartment, or even hotel room.
3- A person to transport said firearm between their vehicle and dwelling.

With the above in mind a 30.06 sign on a hotel or motel would only mean that you cannot hang out in public gathering areas but by state law you were allowed to have it in your room and transport it between your room and your vehicle.

Am I wrong?

p.s., The intent is clear, Hilton just lost my corporate business. I'm just wondering about the law.
