I see that I'm in the minority here, but I actually really really don't like HB 48 passing. I don't believe that people will actually read the form and study the new laws. They might not remember anything from the class either, but I think it has a much higher likelihood of sticking. In fact, I'd say if you want to make CHLs available to more people, lowering the class time(accomplished) and reducing the fee are the key factors. Currently I feel that the license fee + class fee makes CHLs less available to poorer folks. That being said, I do think the shooting portion of the test should be done away with. The right to protect yourself has nothing to do with proficiency.

I also believe that you should have to retake your driving test every 10 years.

Bite your tongue. Took me three times to pass the driving test - I do NOT want to go through that again. :(

I understand what you are saying but the major laws (rape, robbery, murder) do not change ever 2 - 5 years. It looks like they are liberalizing the CHL laws, increasing the number of places someone can go. If a person does NOT keep up w/the law and STILL thinks churches are off limits, I'm good w/that.

OTOH, I heard of instructors still teaching churches are restricted - that's not cool.

Generally, CHL's are not a problem - in any state - regardless of how much/little/if any training they have to take. I'm not sure mandatory training is ever going to be that effective.

I like training and encourage everyone to get trained - but it should be at their desire, not some governmental edict. :(

My CHL expires this September 27. I guess I can just wait until after September 1 to renew mine. I only have it to make purchases of firearms easier. :) Besides, I qualify annually to meet the requirements of H.R. 218.
