Thanks guys. I just have never been told up front on the phone about a firearm policy. Didn’t know if it was legit.

It's effective notice pursuant to TPC §30.06, so either cancel and stay elsewhere or don't bring your gun into the hotel. Failure to provide notice can lead to a fine, but that's another issue. I have had snafus with several Holiday Inn brands within Texas that tell you on their website about their weapons policy after you "book" the reservation.
