Good night, those things are gigantic. I feel so inadequate. ;-)

Well….they ARE bigger than a 5.56, but I don’t know if they are “gigantic”.

It just fills a niche in the force continuum for home protection.

IF one of these three (or a shotgun) won’t handle the job, we have bigger….still!

C-dub wrote:Since I'm new to the AR15/M4 world I'm curious about how many magazines everyone has. How many do you keep loaded? I remember a picture someone posted that must have had at least 50 loaded mags in a safe. Do you only have a few or less than 10 mags and hundreds or thousands of rounds?
Late to the party, but here goes....

I own about 14 or 15 thirty round magazines, and 2 twenty round mags. I keep them all loaded, but I generally only take the 20 round mags to the range, along with an ammo box full of loose ammo.....usually M855 ball, to the tune of about 1,000 rounds. That's for the AR15.

For the AR10, I own 9 magazines, but I never keep them loaded, and I generally do not have anywhere near as much .308 ammo on hand.

You asked so I finally have an answer - - - 25 - 30 round mags all but three are loaded with 28 rounds each the three unloaded mags are for range/match use. 25 - 20 round mags all loaded with 18 rounds. The loaded mags are for unforeseen circumstances such as weather emergencies (I'm on the coast and it is hurricane season) civil unrest, terrorist activities and yes, even zombies. I have my mags loaded with one ball two tracers the rest ball. Why? From bought and paid for experience I know I'll never be able to count rounds in a fire fight. I will notice the tracer rounds and know it's time to change mags. I had a number of both 20 and 30 round mags that needed upgraded followers. I replaced the green followers with yellow Magpul followers. While waiting for the followers to arrive I sandblasted and painted all these mags olive green. They are all but one loaded with 1 M855 2 tracers and the balance M855 the one odd mag is loaded with 1soft point 2 tracers and 25 soft points. To identify this mag there is a wrap of black electrical tape around the mag.

35 30 rounders loaded
7 20 rounders loaded
200 rounds in an ammo box.

4 AR variants. I am about 3000 rounds short of my goal of 1000 rounds per rifle.
