Thank you for pointing out that part of the law. I was not aware of it. I knew by general knowledge that the University of Texas owns UTMB lock, stock, and barrel.

(Also, UTMB employees are UT employees and are in the teacher pension system, among other linkages.)

UTMB also has facilities attached to it that are not owned by UT, including Shriners Hospital (currently closed). These facilities are sometimes used for teaching purposes.

Once again we come back to the definition of school.

The bottom line is that the police with jurisdiction think it is an offense to carry there. They won't think differently until the AG or a judge tells them otherwise, and they won't like it if that happens.

If this issue ever got widespread attention, I'll bet Shriners would have valid 30.06 signs up before the sun set. PC 46.035(i) passed very quietly.
