I fully understand what you are saying and why. However, part of your rules and regulations in order to be a security officer are to follow those rules and regulations (which include the law and not only the Private Security rules). Your creditability and also integrity are called into question when you as a security officer chose to violate and break the law. When you put on a uniform and break the laws of the state then you aren't much better than any other criminal. If you can't follow the rules, regulations and laws then you should have already chosen another profession before you decided to break the law.

I do not know you and don't have anything personal against you. I was making a statement so those that don't really know what they can and can't do as security officers know that it IS against the law. I wasn't trying to single you out otherwise I would have stated who wrote the original statement that created my response. Merry Christmas and I am glad you have made it safely through both your honor to our country and your employment.

I honestly think it's stupid that a commisioned security guard, who also has a CHL, is not allowed to carry his backup gun while on duty. They took BOTH the gurad classes and the CHL. I know that's the way the law is written, but some laws really are stupid.

I also agree with you. I have both and would carry both if I could.

Last year I had a confrontation with an ex-renter who worked as a security guard at the Dallas Federal Building. He had moved out over a weekend, obviously in haste, leaving unpaid rent and some minor belongings. So i changed the locks.
Couple days later a neighbor called and said "Your renter is back at the house and loading up stuff". I got there to catch them cramming their van full of stuff. I called 911 and then told them to leave NOW. I was carrying concealed, he was in uniform and carrying in holster. I was glad he left quietly with minimal backtalk.
I was pretty certain he was illegal, but the cops did not show up until after they left.
