One more comment about the boycotting of Taco Cabana.
Remember that revenue lost because one customer doesn't come back has a multiplying effect, it comes entirely from profit because there is very little offsetting reduction in overhead.
If the fictitious TCs overhead is 50% and they gross $42K per month their profit is $21K per month. Loss of $1k per month reduces their profit to $20K per month or a 4.7% drop in profits.
That will get someones attention at corporate.

About the only thing I like at TC now is the Chicken Tortilla Soup...
It got me through some rough days this last winter...
You can get that through the drive thru...
This really has been a very well discussed issue over the years, and I am glad it still pops up from time to time...
TC is never going to change its policy, and if I was a betting man, I would side on the idea that this is not so much an "anti" point of view, even though the corporate girl did come off a bit stupid on the whole issue when they were pressed by one of our own to give clarification on the policy...I think this is all corporate insurance policy driven...
I would say its probably time to let this sleeping dog lie, and either never go to one again, or just ignore it all...My life is worth more than a business or a policy that makes it uncomfortable to be in their business and have the means to protect myself...
They want a gun free zone...Fine...Have fun TC...A lot of us wont be there when it might be nice to have one or more of us around...

Ohhhh, if you really want to stir it up...Find out who's underwriting the insurance policies for these franchises, and the companies that restrict us by posting 30.06
Those are the ones that need attention like this...

what strikes me as ironic, is how outraged some folks are about a company that doesn't want us. Throughout my life, Ive always found certain peoples that don't apreciate my company... Thats just fine we all don't have to get hug and sing Kumbya with every soul we meet.stevie_d_64 wrote:About the only thing I like at TC now is the Chicken Tortilla Soup...

Meanwhile whole citys have rissen to oppose us through their Chamber of Commerces. Every year I used to spend probably $3K a year in San Antonio this year untill they took up battle with CHLers and fought against us to keep a weapon in our parked cars. They won. Last week I spent my Riverwalk week in California and Vegas. I won't stop for gas in San Antonio any more. At least Taco Cabana didn't choose to actually fight us, they just asked us to stay away. I can respect their wishes.

Amen!!! Just do your part and not eat there because they have the sign, not necessarily because of their food. If your mission is to try and bankrupt TC, then stop spending your $10 inside or at the drive thru. You are just being a hypocrit when you do it. Stop blowing hot air and get these 2 simple stances in motion and let's see how long it will take for them to be financially affected into make a change in policy. Just beating a dead horse and not changing strategies in all these months.

I'm not familiar w/ what you're referring to here. Please elaborate.Liberty wrote: .....San Antonio this year untill they took up battle with CHLers and fought against us to keep a weapon in our parked cars. They won. Also, that doesn't make sense to me. You traded one city because of an issue with weapons and parked cars for a state and a city where you can't even carry?

California as a state hasn't petitioned my legislature to inhibit my rights to keep a gun in the parking lot in my car. What the Californians wish to do with themselves is their bussiness. The San Antonio Chamber of comerce campaigned pretty hard to fight us. The business along along the river walk are heavily represented in the Chamber of Commerce.NcongruNt wrote:I second the request for elaboration.Liberty wrote: Meanwhile whole citys have rissen to oppose us through their Chamber of Commerces. Nevada just passed laws that will allow us to carry in their beautiful state. Nevada didn't demand that our state legislature shoot down a bill designed to protect Texan workers.

You know what guys...I used to be just like you...I was all full of spite and malice towards a business I used to like patronizing because of the convenience and relative quality of their product...Lucky45 wrote:Liberty wrote: what strikes me as ironic, is how outraged some folks are about a company that doesn't want us.

I do not think I am at all a hypocrite or blowing hot air because I go through their drive thru, thinking I've bucked the system somehow...And the admission is only public because I know there are a heck of a lot more of us in this community that do the same thing, I am just not fearful of any scorn from anyone by admitting this publically...
One thing is absolutely for sure, and it is not a thing I would ever want to see...Taco Cabana and any other business that restricts us is NOT going to change their policy, ever...And until each and every one of those (gun-free zone) businesses have a mass shooting in them, it will never even be brought up for discussion in their mettings till something tragic like that happens...
So...
Like I've said before...This discussion has been going on and off for YEARS...And the conclusion is the more we subtly push their buttons, the harder their hearts become on the issue...And to tell y'all the bitter pill truth...That is their problem, not ours...
So I am not going to let this issue get my bowels in an uproar anymore, unless the food does it to me (and y'all do not want to be in the same county when that happens )...
We in the CCW community around this country have learned our lesson...We know what the score is...And until these gun-free zone businesses learn the lesson the hard way...Nothing is going to change...
I'll always applaude the efforts (and participate where and when I can) to push back the infringements upon us...But this effort has always been one that has never yielded much, other than get some folks riled up...I used to be that way, but I came to see the light...And those cockroaches scatter like they always do...But they don't ever really go away...

I never said I had spite or malice for TC. I always stuck to the point that why is anyone patronizing a business where as a customer you have strong obections to their policy of operations. If I was a customer and any store singled me out and told me I had to enter through the back door, then you guarantee I will never be back unless they change they policy.stevie_d_64 wrote: You know what guys...I used to be just like you...I was all full of spite and malice towards a business I used to like patronizing because of the convenience and relative quality of their product...

This is another head scratcher. Why are we trying to be the police and security consultants for a business. Why not use the reason they opened the store in the first place as the motivation. Remove your money and everyone else that you can, until they get the message. Why must we use someone's misfortune for self gratification. If nobody is in the building in the first place then there won't be anyone to massacre or rob, because they stop patronizing. No money in register either.stevie_d_64 wrote: One thing is absolutely for sure, and it is not a thing I would ever want to see...Taco Cabana and any other business that restricts us is NOT going to change their policy, ever...And until each and every one of those (gun-free zone) businesses have a mass shooting in them, it will never even be brought up for discussion in their mettings till something tragic like that happens...

Don't be too quick to say that everyone that boycotts is full of malice for a business. I've learned that what you do with your money says as much or more than how you vote.stevie_d_64 wrote:You know what guys...I used to be just like you...I was all full of spite and malice towards a business I used to like patronizing because of the convenience and relative quality of their product...
...
(If you want to know what a person values in life, look at that person's checkbook.)
I try to boycott businesses that post 30.06. The exception is hospitals--I'm not going to refuse to see my grandmother in the hospital b/c they're posted. But I can go elsewhere for tacos, and I can certainly shop at places other than Katy Mills or Grapevine Mills Malls. Hey, Deerbrook, Baybrook, and Woodlands Malls aren't posted! Taco Bell isn't posted either. Pappasito's and Lupe Tortilla aren't posted. And they have better food. I'll give them my business. It's a win-win for me.
I think others here are boycotting Taco Cabana and other places posting 30.06 because they're wanting to let their money speak for them. I think it's an excellent method.

Venus...I agree...Its a very principled stand to take, and I am not opposed to it at all...
But really...You go to that Lupe Tortilla's on Bay Area Blvd???
We need to get together at the Pei Wei (pronounced Pay-Way) place across the street there...I have a hankerin' for lemon pepper chicken from time to time...I would never steer you wrong!
