Are you suppose to tip after they pump your gas? It's not like you requested the service or had a choice in the matter...EvilTuna wrote:The most unpleasant thing about driving in New Jersey is that you are not allowed to pump your own gas.

i have only filled up in New Jersey a few times but have never tipped. The gas attendants do get paid and they sometimes own the gas stations. I don't think tipping is an issue.

Outstanding.!srothstein wrote:I have relatives in Philly who I think I can talk into letting you park the truck by their house and keeping an eye on it. No charge for the parking that way and the gun is safe.
This is an excellent solution on many levels.
1. Taking the train from Philly to Manhattan is something that Texans don't get to experience first hand. When in Rome...
2. Parking in Manhattan is expensive and incredibly inconvenient. Even parking at most hotels requires waiting around for someone to fetch your car, then when you arrive at your destination you're hunting for a place to park and often that means an expensive garage.... Taxis are expensive, but driving yourself is also an expensive pain. Pick your poison. All the money you'll save in parking fees will cover much of your taxi cost.
3. All the gun issues are resolved.
4. You get to make a new set of friends (Seths family). And... there are some great places to eat in Philly. Take them to lunch and say thanks.
You're going to Manhattan.... Socialist America.
Park the car at the border (PA) and dive in with both feet.
That's my vote.
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

What is funny is that you do/must pump your own diesel. I had a diesel powered RV through there before I got my CHL (so carrying wasn't a consideration). We stopped at a truck stop outside of Ramsey and I was shocked when there was no attendant. I knew about the no-customer-pumping rules because we had lived there three years.casp625 wrote:Are you suppose to tip after they pump your gas? I guess the dangers of pumping diesel are just less than gas. Or perhaps that union that sponsored the gas pumping law didn't want to mess with the union truck drivers.
