Switch Blade Knives

Re: Switch Blade Knives
I am definitely not a legal scholar but I stand by my belief based on the wisdom of Google that unless one is an exempt individual or a legal knife dealer, the shipping of an automatic knife across state lines is a federal offense regardless of the carrier used. It is not illegal though to have an automatic knife shipped from a Texas dealer to a Texas resident. How often this law is followed is another question.

That raises another question: If I buy a Benchmade switchblade(I'm not LEO) and send it to them for sharpening/cleaning will they keep it if I'm not LEO credentialed?
Or...?
It is my understanding that a non-LEO needs to take it to a Benchmade dealer and have the dealer do the shipping for you.
Edit: I am in Irving and there are about 8-10 dealers within a 20 mile radius of me. I don't think you would find it hard to locate a good dealer.
I have a Benchmade 9000s (it was first of their auto series) and GigGag, a forum member that is LEO, offered to ship to benchmade to get it sharpened. You should ask him. I got an Apex sharpening system and used that instead.
