After renewal, old CHL destroy or required return?

#1

Post by Don1911 »

I just got my renewed CHL in mail. I have forgotten. Am I required to return the old one to the state? Or can I just destroy it?

Thanks

do what ever you'd like with it, there is no requirement to return or destroy it, it is no longer valid so don't carry it :tiphat:

I kept mine for nostalgia. The old CHL looks different than the later versions.

My understanding is that you cannot have 2 valid TX licenses. If you replace one for any reason and the old one is still valid you need to return the old one, unless the reason for replacement is "lost" or "stolen". If you renew and your old one is "expired" it does not need to be returned.

I don't believe you have to return a duplicate unexpired license. I don't have a citation, but I believe you have the option to destroy it.

No, you never have to return a license. Before the Categories were eliminated one was required to return a "NSA" license if one modified the license to a "SA" license. But that was the only cause
