Re: East Texas Goodwill's gone 30.06
Never been in a Goodwill store and don't plan on ever entering one. I'll give my donations to the local church. It's amazing these morons don't understand that criminals will not take heed to these presumed "crime deterring super magical signs".
These people are pathetic excuses of supposedly educated beings. Complete Morons.

Out of curiosity, we just went by the Goodwill store in Jacksonville. There were several signs but none of them were a 30.06 sign.

Yes, you do have property rights..............and I have the right to make all of my donations to GRACE: http://www.gracegrapevine.org/; where both my (armed) presence and my donations are welcome."Our stores have to be comfortable places for our shoppers, our donors and our staff. We certainly don't want to infringe on anyone else's right, but we certainly do have the right to permit certain things and not permit certain things on our property."
One more charity gets politicized. But if she seriously thinks that most businesses in Tyler are going to follow in her footsteps, I'd imagine she's delusional.

I just wonder what made them ban guns? Also someone had to make them aware the gun busters sign was useless.

I've just sent a letter to the Sherman address, refuting those claims and reminding them that playing politics is not the business that they are in. I don't expect it to have any impact because I believe that the entire Goodwill leadership team is heavily Liberal leaning. But they will not be able to say that they didn't know what they were doing. The Annoyed Man wrote:Yes, you do have property rights..............and I have the right to make all of my donations to GRACE: http://www.gracegrapevine.org/; where both my (armed) presence and my donations are welcome."Our stores have to be comfortable places for our shoppers, our donors and our staff. Remind them that 30.06 only stops people with with a license to carry, from entering their establishment and has consequence only for licensed carriers. 30.06 has no penalties for someone carrying without a license. An unlicensed person cannot be charged with criminal trespass for carrying past a 30.06 sign.

That is just about what I said. Criminals don't heed signs. Law abiding citizens heed signs. Law abiding citizens don't commit crimes on your property. Criminals do.MeMelYup wrote:Remind them that 30.06 only stops people with with a license to carry, from entering their establishment and has consequence only for licensed carriers. 30.06 has no penalties for someone carrying without a license. I don't think it matters to them. For these types all guns are bad period. I bet they would prefer LEOs carry billy clubs instead of guns like the motherland.chasfm11 wrote:That is just about what I said. Criminals don't heed signs. Law abiding citizens heed signs. "these types" - did they really give you any level of detail around who or why that decision was made?jmra wrote: For these types all guns are bad period. I bet they would prefer LEOs carry billy clubs instead of guns like the motherland.
Stereotype all you want, but you'll end up excluding some rational people that just might be "slightly" on the wrong side of the fence. Perhaps they could be convinced otherwise with some well though out statistics and rational communication? A them or us attitude doesn't really help our cause.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out.cb1000rider wrote:"these types" - did they really give you any level of detail around who or why that decision was made?jmra wrote: For these types all guns are bad period. I bet they would prefer LEOs carry billy clubs instead of guns like the motherland.

Well, we could treat them like they might be otherwise persuaded.
Alternately, I'll assume anyone that doesn't agree with me is a radicalized anti-2nd amendment'er and show them the disrespect they deserve. Perhaps less effective, but infinitely more satisfying perhaps?

And the alternatives?jmra wrote:Good luck. 1. Leave the action unchallenged?
2. Picket the stores?
3.????
There is no question that whatever is done carries with it some potential for negative consequences. But personally, I see a a creep, creep creep of limitations on the Second Amendment and believe that they has often been allowed to just happen. I agree that it cannot dissolve into an us or them confrontation because that is surely a loss for us.
I believe that Goodwill is making a political statement. I told them that I believed that and why. I reminded them that being in the middle of a political situation is not in concert with their stated mission. I also told them that the reasons given were the same reasons used by the gun control politicians and didn't think that they were or should be trying to align themselves with those groups. I frankly don't expect my letter, if is the only one that they get, to do any good. But if there is enough of a thoughtful but firm reaction, I believe that they will be more inclined to rethink their actions than if all of us collectively do nothing. Any business is dependent on public sentiment but ones that require donations are even more dependent. Where we might have little effect on the owners to the Katy/Grapevine Mills Malls, a donation centric organization might more quickly reconsider. And if they don't, I don't see a down side. They are already posted and the worst that they can do is double down and post every one of their stores. That could be in the works already.

Re: East Texas Goodwill's gone 30.06
Went by my local goodwill and saw from the parking lot a big 3006 sign in the front door. I'm sure the other store in town is posted also.

I know this is an old thread. I joined in on emailing them just as well. Like another poster I donated several computer parts and fully built computers. I was talking to my boss to start donating several of our PC's that work but just need a hard drive (we have to remove them per policy) to them. We will find another company to work with.
