Most clowns & yo-yos can get a drivers license, but only some can qualify for a CHL. It presents a higher degree of validity.

You can be an illegal in Chicago and still get a driver's license - If I were TSA, I'd be thanking people for getting a CHL, not harassing them. I know that the regulations differ from state to state, but the common theme is 'background check'. :banghead:

It just about takes an emergency to get me on a plane anymore. I'm not scared to fly and I'm not modest, I just don't like gropers.

Same thing happened to me at Hobby in Houston. At the ticket counter, a vagrant-looking man asked if he could take a woman in a wheelchair through security to the gate. The ticket counter woman asked if he had an ID. He said no, but said he had and produced a Houston Metro bus pass. I was behind this guy in the security line and, just for giggles, decided to use my CHL for ID (all the while monitoring his progress). TSA denied my CHL but allowed this guy to go all the way to the gate with nothing more than his bus pass. I don't think the bus pass even has a photo or even a name.

Yeah, but you're a citizen, so the law applies to you.

Pretty interesting. I am flying out of DFW later this month and I think I will try to test the system with my CHL. Not so sure I will use it on the way home as I'll be in NYC... Not very gun friendly there.
I've spent a lot of money on guns, bullets and holsters.... The rest I've just squandered away!

I used my CHL at Ontario CA Airport yesterday to get my bags checked and my boarding pass issued. No Issues.
At the TSA check point I tired the same thing, but was told I had to present my Military ID as I was in uniform..... Hard to argue the request when I am in fact required to have my MIL ID with me at all times... And we are afforded some small convenience when going through TSA check points in uniform by not being required to remove our boots so long as they do not set off the metal or explosives detector... So "proving" I was Military by presenting a MIL ID card was reasonable.

On the funny side... yes my deployment bag yet again was hit on for explosives, I was again called to meet a TSA rep for the unlocking of my bag so they could paw though my bag.. I was asked yet again if there was any reason my bag might be positive for explosives? I stated as I have previously with a straight face.. "Yes sir, it has had explosives in it, been been near explosions, and contained many times weapons of all types, I have no doubt it will test positive by your scanners for many years to come" :banghead:

On a return trip from Memphis I lost my DL. Was asked if I had anything with my name & photo. I showed them my Sam's Club membership card and they let me thru.

That's real security. All a terrorist would have to do is get a SAM's card and could go anywhere in the U.S.

Have you ever heard that comedian who says "here's your sign"? You need one for the TSA next time. He says stupid people need to wear a sign that let's the rest of us know they are stupid...would make life simpler.

Bill Engvall, seen him live once.. Very funny dude.

But yes, a TSA agent, asking a Sergeant Major with a combat patch, CIB with star, Master Para wings, and AirAssault badge, in uniform, with a ACU pattern deployment bag if he has any possible explanation for his bag testing positive for explosives is a bit silly. I figure it's either a required question, or a brainless drone asking.

Aww man! I totally forgot about my Sam's card!!

Maybe I'll use that first. Then hand over the CHL if they don't like Sam's.

And then maybe I'll find my TDL.
