The most valuable tool each of us has, whether a CHL holder or not, is the big grey thing between our ears. Use it, that's what it's there for.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

Re: Refer to folks with CHL as Peacekeepers
I have a CHL and I'll never qualify as a "peacekeeper" in most people's opinion. You see, when I got my license, I made a promise to myself that I'll not play hero. If my gun comes out, it means my life or a loved one's life is in immediate danger.fireball wrote:I would like to see all folks that hold a Concealed Handgun License refered to as a "Peacekeeper". We help maintain the peace. The name helps generate trust with the public instead of suspicion of lawlessness.

Even given the VA Tech's shooting, if I'm outside the building and the shooter's shooting people inside, I will not run in with my gun. I'll render aid to anybody needing it, but I'll not jump in and try to be a "peacekeeper".

Re: Refer to folks with CHL as Peacekeepers
Like the others I'm not a PeaceKeeper. The name does imply a duty and responsibility that I didn't sign up for.fireball wrote:I would like to see all folks that hold a Concealed Handgun License refered to as a "Peacekeeper". I have the same opinion. If you see my handgun, You can bet I am not keeping the peace, I am defending my life or the life of someone else.HighVelocity wrote:CHL = Law Abiding Citizen, exercising their rights. The term "peacekeeper" implies an assigned responsibility. No thanks.

I am a peacekeeper in my own home, and with my kids that is sometimes a big job.

Peacekeeper is too passive aggressive... besides my CHL is for my (and my families) protection in cases of emergency. A secondary effect from a high numbers of CHLs is implied safety.fireball wrote:I would like to see all folks that hold a Concealed Handgun License refered to as a "Peacekeeper".
