The most valuable tool each of us has, whether a CHL holder or not, is the big grey thing between our ears. Use it, that's what it's there for. ;-)
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

I didnt get a CHL to be a peacekeeper, at my age I decided not to become an easy target of bad guy in a parking lot or someone breaking into my house at night.
it is for me and my familys protection period..

CHL holders called Peacekeepers or Peacemakers

Post by fireball »

Peacemaker- Wikipedia - a person or organization that attempts to reconcile parties involved in a dispute.

Peacekeeper - Wikipedia - UN peacekeeping operations then operated with a clear doctrine, peacekeepers did not take sides or discharge firearms, save in self-defense or meddle in politics.

I have a CHL and I'll never qualify as a "peacekeeper" in most people's opinion. You see, when I got my license, I made a promise to myself that I'll not play hero. If my gun comes out, it means my life or a loved one's life is in immediate danger.

Even given the VA Tech's shooting, if I'm outside the building and the shooter's shooting people inside, I will not run in with my gun. I'll render aid to anybody needing it, but I'll not jump in and try to be a "peacekeeper".

Like the others I'm not a PeaceKeeper. The name does imply a duty and responsibility that I didn't sign up for.

P.S.

Don't ask about badges...... ;-)

:iagree: I have the same opinion. If you see my handgun, You can bet I am not keeping the peace, I am defending my life or the life of someone else.

I am a peacekeeper in my own home, and with my kids that is sometimes a big job.

Peacekeeper is too passive aggressive... besides my CHL is for my (and my families) protection in cases of emergency. A secondary effect from a high numbers of CHLs is implied safety.
