You can carry in Texas with a Florida License.

I remember seeing...I just can't find it right now, that a Texas resident may not carry in Texas under the authority of an out of state license.

I've been looking for the exact location but can't put my finger on it. :banghead:

Maybe it was on packing.org, which apparently is no more...

There is no such law.

I doubt that a Felon could get a Florida CHL.

If you qualify for a non-resident license from another state, and Texas recognizes licenses from that state, then you are legal to carry in Texas with it. There is no requirement for a Texas resident to have a Texas license.

The Utah CFP is a valid, and less expensive, alternative than the Florida license. $59 for the initial license, good for 5 years, $10 for the renewal.

When I took my CHL class here in Bossier City, our instructor urged people to opt for Florida rather than the Louisiana offering...it offers more states, costs less and is issued for a longer term. Out of 13 in my class, 12 of us went for the FL permit.

As he was walking us through filling out the paperwork, he pointed out one of the questions....are you a fugitive from justice? Seems someone in a prior class had actually answered "yes" on the question, at which point the Deputy on hand for fingerprints and photos went outside, made a radio call, came back inside and promptly arrested the applicant, right in front of the class!

Dumb crook stories aside, you can't get a Florida permit with a felony conviction.

Answers to most of your Utah questions can be found here at the Utah BCI website: http://bci.utah.gov/CFP/CFPFAQ/CFPFAQ.html

Eligibility questions are not specifically answered there, but can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/LLWatson/index ... bility.htm
