Carry in Texas Renaissance Festival

#1

Post by boatbroke »

I know that the concealed issue has been thoroughly discussed and I have no intent to bring that up again. My issue is with carrying a flintlock pistol. I can't get a response from the people in charge and hope that one of you are familiar with this issue and can help me out.

Does anyone know if a functioning flintlock pistol can be carried on the fairgrounds?

yes you may carry a flintlock pistol, remove the flint, no powder and yep you can have it, wou might even be able to have the flint but lots of guys carry them in pirate garb, technically if I'm not mistaken its considered a non weapon as it is a curio, but hey I could be slowing smoke

Thanks for the replies.

I didn't expect there to be any issues with open carry of it as it's not classified as a firearm, but wanted to make sure that I wouldn't get to talk to the nearest police officer.

Case in point, I ordered it from a manufacturer in Canada and they shipped it to my front door. No form #4473 required. Accordint to the ATF, any firearm built before 1899 or replica thereof is classified as a curio, nothing more.

When was this??? I was there last weekend and thinking of going again this weekend or next and I didn't see any 30.06 sign. I saw the rules from the "King" and it said I couldn't carry but that's hardly legal; I carried right on through. I'm curious where you saw this sign because I was looking for them and I didn't see anything, especially a HUGE sign.

Year before last - right after I got my license. We laughed hard because it was a HUGE sign.

Great if they unposted it!

I know Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie is posted with a proper 30.06.

Maybe a bit of confusion between the two? See one geek in tights and you've seen them all. :biggrinjester:

Actually had a good time at Scarborough Faire this year, will probably go back again.

The only thing I have ever seen is the King's rules and , umm that ain't no 30:06 legal sign so umm, nope doesn't apply to me thanx, also TRF is Listed in the TABC Database as BLUE. OH YEA talked to Terry, said the no guns thing is well ummm shhhhhh don't ask don't tell, leave it at that mmmmmkay

Denver has a 30.06? It has been a long week, huh? :biggrinjester:

Pretty sure is was Waxahachie, took the wife there last summer before I got my CHL. I was working on getting it, and I did notice the big 30.06. Ohh, gave me warm fuzzies knowing I was perfectly safe. [/sarcasm]
