Re: Someone lifts up your shirt?
We've spent the past two summers in Montana and four summers before that in other OC states. I have to really work on caring who sees my CC when we're at the 'home ranch' in Texas. It's nice to not be concerned with CC exposure. For that reason, I would be delighted to see OC legalized in the Lone Star State.mamabearCali wrote:This is why though I love TX I am happy to live in a state that has OC (VA). I don't OC all the time, but it is invaluable for those situations where you did not know that you were made by your toddler's foot as you carried him about. You know and everyone else around you does as well that you are perfectly within the law. The MWAG calls are much less intimidating and clear. Most of the time the 911 operator takes care of it without the police ever being notified. If they do show up and your gun is holstered, you are behaving normally, you are in the clear. Note the reason I stick around this forum is that I have family in TX, was born here, and visit as often as I can.
Yall do beat us out though on your castle doctrine. Ours is woefully lacking.

A grown man (I assume) thinks it's against the law to carry a firearm on his own damn land. Our forefathers would be so proud...exbellicus wrote:While I'm at it...I typically open carry in my residence. I am permitted to answer the door without concealing as long as I don't cross the threshold. correct?

Re: Someone lifts up your shirt?
several prior threads on this
If you don't "intentionally" fail to conceal, you committed no crime
we hug at church a lot; 95 year old lady occasionally pats my Glock through my shirt, but a tip/technique I learned here is "go low" put your arm under theirs, raising their arm, forcing them to hug your shoulder or higher than your belt line.
(We lunch after church (continuation of the "dinner on the grounds" custom from the 1800s when people traveled days by horse to attend our church, and we didn't send them away hungry; "OLD Baptists") and we discuss guns and scriptures and personal lives so they all know what I carry anyway. And I usually carry spares to toss to other CHLs if needed, in case they forgot theirs, but the lady with the pink Ruger 9mm usually has hers. The people in my church/ their families, have known each other and their families for hundreds of years and we all mostly have the same world view about guns etc anyway, they aren't strangers. )

Honest question from someone that needs an honest answer not sarcasm.91wm6 wrote:A grown man (I assume) thinks it's against the law to carry a firearm on his own darn land. exbellicus, you can open carry on your own property or property under your control. If you live in an appartment then you are correct. Dont cross the threshold. If you own the lot or 1000ac you can open carry legally. In todays world, know your city & neighbors.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

When answering the door I usually grab the Keltec and hold it out of sight so as not to alarm the innocent. About a month ago following the same procedure they evidently saw it because instead of the argument about my not being interested they beat a realy fast retreat.
