My daughter gave me a good laugh tonight....
I gave her a ride to the mall in Frisco so she could attend a book club at Barnes and Noble. She told me yesterday there had been some robberies in the area and since she was going to be coming out of the place at nine at night, she mentioned some concern. She is 32 but hey... Pops to the rescue anyway...LOL. I figured I could hang at the Starbucks and read while she played book club.
So we are coming out of the mall and I say to her, now remember your CHL class and scan around the parking lot with your eyes for suspicious characters before walking further. She laughs and says, "WRONG, in my class we were taught to make a duck and roll tactical entry into the parking lot. Using the vehicles as we go for cover and concealment." I would have spit my coffee out my nose if had been taking a drink.

I don't get the joke. Parking lot tactical entry is CHL 101.

This allows BGs to scurry away for a weaker target, of course!The Annoyed Man wrote: Yes, but it is most effective if one flashes one's ............wait for it......... CHL badge as you bolt out the door.

For reasons I cannot explain, when I read this, I thought about Peter Falk and Alan Arkin in the movie The In-Laws. There is a scene where the pair are being shot at and Falk's character is yelling at the character--running through an open area--played by Arkin. Serpentine.

My renewal comes up in January. Obviously, the classes have been upgraded since my first class.

Be careful executing the duck and roll, you wouldn't want to roll into grandma, those 40 pound purses do hurt when used about ones head

Here's the scene: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Warning: two instances of profanity (although I hear these on network television now)
EDIT: I let it sit too long while decided whether this broke Rule 1.
