Seems like a good stop, no speeding ticket and everyone passed the attitude test.
Re: Oklahoma State Trooper Pulls Us Over.. Im sleeping.
It also begs the question of whether or not a violation of another states law can affect our Texas license. I wouldn't think so because the penalty in Texas for that violation has been removed, but I'm not sure when the violation is committed in another state, which may have a penalty for failure to notify.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

...if he violated OK law, which he didn't in this case, the OK LEO would charge him for violating their law...if it were a misdemeanor of the level that would cause him not to be eligible here, it would hurt him here...if they didn't confiscate his license or report to Texas...probably not...
...this is the OK law and penalty: C. It shall be unlawful for any person to fail or refuse to identify the fact
that the person is in actual possession of a concealed handgun pursuant to the
authority of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act when the person first comes into
contact with any law enforcement officer of this state or its political
subdivisions or a federal law enforcement officer during the course of any
arrest, detainment or routine traffic stop. Any violation of the provisions of
this subsection shall, upon conviction, be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine
not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), by imprisonment in the county
jail for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment. In addition to any criminal prosecution for a violation of the
provisions of this subsection, the licensee shall be subject to an
administrative fine of Fifty Dollars ($50.00), upon a hearing and determination
by the Bureau that the person is in violation of the provisions of this
subsection OK Title 21 Part VI Chap 53 1290.8

It reads like the driver and the OP were the only ones asked to get out. In a van full of people, what reason would there be to extract the guy asleep in the back seat without some suspicion?I was woken up by the guy next to me he tells me that the police want to speak to me. .....So I get out of the van with my hands in front of me and the trooper tells me to come over to them. . He steps back and starts to get irritated with the driver. "I asked you where there any firearms in the vehicle and you said no" The driver was like in shock when he saw my gun. He tells the officer he didn’t know I was carrying. I politely tell the officer "sir I was dead asleep in the backseat if I was awake and had known you had asked, I would have replied and let you know." ...... We both got back in the van and made it back to Dallas safely.
Heck, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the OP will add something.

...I don't know...but the officer didn't say anything to him about a gun until he handed the officer his CHL/Lic and told him about it...
...if I thought a person in a van was armed, I wouldn't send after him , I'd go myself...as blustery as he got about it...I doubt he'd have just stood there talking to the driver and sent a messenger...maybe the OP will tell us more...

Sounds like a fine, but not revocation and possible jail time. I guess whatever classification of violation that is in OK could mean suspension or revocation here.speedsix wrote:C-dub wrote:It also begs the question of whether or not a violation of another states law can affect our Texas license. I don't think the OP has said who the van belonged to. Maybe it was his and that's why the officer selected him to speak to. Hello again fellas,
From what the driver and owner of the van told me after we got back in the van. The Officer decided to call me to be the driver since my drivers' license was valid and I was the first guy that popped into the drivers mind at that moment. The van owner and driver drivers license was 2 days expired. And No we are not like the movie "El Mariachi" jajaja. We are a professional music group that travel across the Northeast performing at Weddings, Quinceaneras (sweet 16), Birthday parties, Funerals, Divorces... yes Divorces. In Texas we have played in many Divorce parties.

We weren't wondering why the LEO said you would have to drive. We were wondering why you were singled out to exit the van to speak to him. I wasn't sure and thought you might have been the owner of the van.jcharro wrote:Hello again fellas,
