Well I guess we all have our own thoughts on whether or not this would be worth pursuing. I would be very interested to hear what you decide to do and what kind of response if any, you get. Stopping arrogant, holier-than-thou, little would-be dictators in their tracks ought to be a subsidized national sport. That being said, the OP is the only one to decide if the effort is justified. Personally, I hope you go after him. At the very least he needs to have an attitude adjustment from his boss. I believe you mentioned showing a military id as well. I don't know if you're active or what, but that is definately a plus for you with the current high regard for servicemen/vets these days. Good luck with this any way you decide to go. If there's any way I can help support your efforts, give a holler! :txflag:

TAM, thanks for posting that. I didn't know that my knife was illegal.... I believe that officer will be getting a personal phone call from me thanking him personally for saving my bacon.

As far as the bored ADA goes.... I guess that is exactly what he was. I was as surprised as the friend of yours was that he even showed up. Strange. I intend to write a letter once I get home..... I'm still working out what angle I want to take on it.

I'll post the letter when I'm done with it. Thanks for everyone's input!

I'm curious about this as well.

Glad the situation worked out for you. Many of the people who live in Santa Monica are about the most left-wing idiot nutjobs you could ever imagine meeting, and their elected officials follow suit. Most cops can't afford to live in SM and thus have a much better handle on their sanity. I stopped going to SM years ago when they outlawed smoking in just about all public areas, but the bums could still sleep, pee and crap all over the beach and public parks with impunity. I'm sure the cops there don't like the situation any more than you or I. I interviewed for a job in SM last year, and in retrospect, thank God I didn't get it. :)

He posted earlier that he presented both DL & CHL under the mistaken impression that they would be notified that he had a CHL. He was attempting to prevent any kind of unpleasant "surprise" situation. Like most people from out of state, he wasn't familiar with the degree of panic mode that the authorities in Kalifornia go into over anything having to do with handguns. I'm NOT referring to the average police officer, but the higher ups......It's just one of a number of reasons I don't regret moving back to Texas :txflag:

I visit Cali pretty much on a yearly basis for Surf trips and catching up with old friends. We stay out of LA and surrounding suburbs. It's very ironic that dogs are not allowed on beaches because people don't want to see/step in the dog waste, but on those very same beaches you'd better be careful on where you step due to the bum waste. Like my friend says

Two cans of FOX 5.3 arrived at my house yesterday. One for the wife and one for me. Of course the first thing my wife asked me was "Can I get a pink holster thingy to carry it in?"
For some reason this thread finally persuaded me to pick some up.

I am just going to avoid the left coast at all costs :patriot: :txflag:
