30.06 Question... I'm really confused.

Yes, it was definately regarding 30.06 postings. We did talk about the fact that unless the sign is specifically worded, it has not meaning whatsoever. But, he was quick to stipulate that even with a proper 30.06 sign, you still have the right to carry, until you are told face-to-face that you cannot.

I'm still hesitant to mention names, unless other really need to know.

Others do need to know. His past students need to know they've been taught wrongly in a way that could get them in serious trouble. DPS needs to know that he's in need of a remedial class. And any club, range or store he's affiliated with needs to know that he's passing bogus information.

You don't have to drop his name here, but you do need to be in touch with DPS.

I understand you don't want to needlessly get someone in trouble. But how many past and future students of his will needlessly get in trouble --much more serious trouble than he'll face from being reported-- if you remain silent? Remember, the vast majority of them are going into the world armed only with the knowledge of the law that was taught to them in class. Few will seek out other sources of information like you have done by coming here.

I think you should contact your instructor again and make sure that you completely understand him. If he insist that you could still carry with 30.06 sign, then you might need to contact DPS and check with them for clarification, then may be you'll have to let DPS know that you took class with your instructor and he misinformed you. Then let DPS decide what they want to do.
