Carry in a Wine Tasting Event

#1

Post by baraco01 »

A friend of mine recently started his wine making business. He asked me to help him out in his upcoming win testing event in a small office type building he rented for the event. The event will be 2 days from 6-10pm. Of course alcohol will be consumed there as it is a wine tasting event although he will also sell wine making kits. Since he asked me to help him out during the event, will I be able to carry my pistol or do I have to leave it inside the car in the parking lot? Thanks.

...it's not covered under the 51% law...the deciding factor will be if YOU are drinking or not...

If it's not 30.06 posted or a 51$ location, then I don't see the issue with carrying.

Thanks for the replies.... also, I don't drink. Actually, I just found out when I looked into the address given to me that the place is in New Mexico :smash: Since El Paso and New Mexico is right beside each other, I checked the add and yeah, it is already in New Mexico... only 2 blocks away from Texas. I searched in nm laws but could not find a definite answer as most questions where with regards to restaurants, bar and grocery stores that sell alcohol.

Looking at http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/newmexico.pdf, it looks like it will depend on if the location is posted or if it is licensed to dispense alcohol.

The location itself is not posted since it is an office of another company that was just rented by my friend. My friend has all the licenses needed for him to operate and sell.

When and where is this wine tasting event? Might be something the wife and i could do depending on the date. We usually go to the pistacho farm in NM (Alamogordo) and buy a couple of bottles since we take the kids to Ruidoso once or twice a year.
